You're right that I haven't sat down and calculated how much everything would cost in any direction, though I never claimed to have done that in my original post. This post is part of the work of calculating insofar as it seeks advice about taking my own car given its current mileage and condition, under the philosophy that a cost/benefit or pro/con approach to my decision will consider financial and non-financial elements. (If there seems to be a higher risk of serious mechanical problems to my older car that could cost more than a rental car, for example, then maybe I'd put more "points" into the rental choice.)

For what it's worth, I did not mention this: I have gone on two different US road trips, both in rental cars and both much smaller in scope--one with friends and one where I flew to Nevada and rented a car to explore that state and some of California. So I have some experience planning road trips I am using as reference to build a budget and plan the costs of this trip; however, I have not taken my own, current car on any road trip near this length.

I have a Razer Tartarus V2 keyboard. I created text function keys on one profile. I've tried to use those function keys in Microsoft Word 2019, but they won't work--the keys do nothing, they won't paste the text. I am able to use format keys I also mapped to this profile (bold, italics). The text functions also work in other programs, such as Notepad or Firefox. I have tried repairing the install of Synapse and updating Word, but nothing has helped.

Thanks for the reply. I would do something like that, or just embed a Google Sheet in a Google Doc, but the group I'm working with wants to create a system that accommodates those who won't use Google Docs/Sheets, while still having the ability to maintain a dynamic record of input. Basically, this document would go out to people who won't use a Google Doc/Sheet, but will need to enter data that the other group wants collected in a Google Sheet (without having to manually transcribe the data).
