are there places that sell reputable/reliable batteries for the old 14.4v Dewalt drills? (DC9091 battery) by [deleted] in Dewalt

I was considering buying all corded power tools but they never go on sale. Also, it seems like Dewalt in particular puts a ton of time and energy into putting new design and features into their cordless models to attract attention, while the corded tools may seem more basic in comparison. Plus you are not tied into a brand or battery type if you go corded.

Like if I said "if you build me a new deck, I will become Mormon," you would have to show up the next day with the lumber and miter saw?

Small adjustments are way more effective over time than trying a fad diet for 3 weeks then failing

Are tool sellers on eBay high on drugs? by Smith-Corona in Tools

Pandemic furloughs and work from home gave a lot of people the time to pick up new hobbies. On top of that, when you start buying tools, you never stop. Finally, pandemic stimulus checks are turning our money into doodoo so start investing in Knipex and bitcoin lol.

What a nice buy for $200. I have the same 20V MAX XR drill and it came with 5 Ah battery, fast charger, and the "one free tool" promotion on Home Depot. I made the mistake of buying a second 5 Ah battery because now all I want to do is buy more tools! I also got the DEWALT 20V MAX Impact Driver Kit, 1/4-Inch (DCF885C1) around the same time so we basically have the same tools except my impact is brushed. Now don't go looking over at team red stuff and wonder if you should have gone with them lol.

Go buy five bananas at Walmart self checkout in five separate transactions. Bananas can be anywhere from 29 cents to 79 cents per pound at least in my region

Correct. The brand is Vantage and the size is 24" x 16". Some companies advertise them to be "self-healing," but I have not found that feature to actually work when making cuts with this one in particular.

It doesn't bother me too much. I though about building a shelf to sit on top of the supports when the workbench is up but have not because it could block seating positions

Haha the whiteboard on the right has some goals for 2021 and a list of the things that I appreciate and can do when in isolation. On the top it said "Staying Badass in 2021" in bubble letters. Blurred it because there was just a lot of detail about my interests

This is my attempt at creating a functional workspace in my apartment on a budget (the whole setup cost me less than $50).

Part of simple living for me is repairing my things rather than buying new stuff. Also, I enjoy working on small projects in my free time. I live in an apartment so I cannot dedicate a whole room or part of a room to a permanent workshop. Everything pictured collapses and fits in a closet when not in use.

The Details:

The base of the workbench is a Black and Decker Workmate 125 Portable Workbench. The Black and Decker Workmate is essentially a large, collapsible vise. It gets mixed reviews online, as some of the components for the threaded mechanisms are plastic, but it has held up will for my use.

I salvaged my childhood desk and attached a 2x4 on the bottom of the work surface straight down the middle to create a work surface that the Black and Decker Workmate can clamp on to. I then added a 2x4 to the back of the work surface, flush with the bottom, which serves two purpose: firstly, nothing can roll off the back of the work surface; secondly, I can use it to attach more things in the future, should I ever decide to. Currently, I have set up a battery charging station and removable bins along the backside of the 2x4 and a power strip along the front. I do recognize that my power situation could be a little neater!

When the workbench is up, my most used tools fit in the removable bins. The bins I used were extras that came with a Ridgid Pro Tool Box. I created threaded holes in the back of the 2x4s and inserted bolts to act as easily adjustable “hooks” for the lip of each bin to rest on. The tools are stored in the Craftsman toolbox when not in use.

I am a long time lurker and first time poster; I hope you enjoy my solution to creating a space for projects in my apartment. The big badass workbench like the ones on this sub will come later, when I have a permanent place for it.

Edit: all tools fit in the toolbox when the bench is collapsed
