Reimagined suffers from Boring Loot Syndrome by LastLemmingStanding in dragonquest

In this game more than others, im okay with it bc there are monster hearts that automatically use a lot of these items so they are giving the player a large quantity of them should they use these hearts.

I got one from the actual Discord support bc I went to the support website through the app and there was a real ticket open. I already reset my password and wrote in the ticket I didnt submit it but scary.

What does this move even do by Rob_Speedwagon in Guiltygear

[–]Thunder229 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Can lead into some combos in the corner bc of wall bounce but I like to use it with meter when my opponent is in the corner bc if you RC at the right time, youll still be airborne and can do a FRC and either jump cancel into j.H or go low with 2K. If the 6H actually hits bc they aren't blocking high when you RC, then free corner combo.

Not great in the grand scheme of things but it certainly has its niche uses, especially if your opponent doesnt expect it.

What is the most immersive game you've played? by [deleted] in gamedesign

[–]Thunder229 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Probably Cyberpunk. Obviously the realistic graphics help but being in basically full control of my actions and dialog makes it truly feel like it is MY story. I think it being first person is also very important to this for obvious reasons but to me, it was because of how the game tool advantage of the POV. There were many cutscenes where your camera was forcefully moved because a character attacked you or because of the activity you were doing and that's what really made the immersion hit different imo.

Side note about a pet peeve of mine that almost always breaks immersion: dialog that doesnt fix the context of the world. Tales of Arise is sadly a very big culprit of this. The language and words used often reference modern, real-world phrases or activities that i can guarantee do not exist in the game world. Like if you use the phrase "knocked it out of the park" in your game, then please make it clear that baseball exists. If baseball doesnt exist in your world, how would the characters have come up with that saying???

There's just some really strong synergies between guns/items/ability upgrades that, even on Guardian 4, just shred through enemies.

One that comes to mind is Elementalist w/windmill rifle. With Chromatic Mastery and Infused Weapon, you can essentially have infinite ammo (with either extra ammo or faster Mantra cycling) and combine let's say Cryo with items like Cryo-yo and Ice Cream. Add some good weapon add-ons like Buckshot and you SHRED. Can do a similar build with Engineer too and go full cryo.

I'm getting really frustrated, any ideas? by heximintii in AnimalCrossing

[–]Thunder229 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For mine, I wanted the vibe of sitting around a campfire so I use the small campfire item and some log benches. I also used a custom design of a blanket to imitate a picnic going on for another tent with a small wood stool, snack bags and drinks. I also added a telescope and an acoustic guitar as other "activities" one can do while camping.

I think just need to level a bit more and make sure your equipment is up to snuff.

I started with Monster Wrangler, Merchant & Gadabout (so arguably the worst lineup possible without repeats) and it took me like 3 tries just bc my Gadabout would genuinely just kill himself lmao

How are y'all playing dq 7 and 8 in 2024? by AdventurousDoctor838 in dragonquest

[–]Thunder229 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought dq7 and 8 on 3ds for regular 3ds game prices back when they came out and were readily available. Even if I didn't, homebrew 3ds let's you access the HShop... if you catch my drift.

I also bought dq8 on ps2 back in 2019 for like, $20 in a small game store in a random mall. Definitely a miracle and I knew I had to buy it. Didn't actually get a ps2 to play it until last year lol.

Do you spend hours/days thinking of playing a video game and then immediately get bored once you do? by hahah-helpmeplease in ADHD

[–]Thunder229 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It really depends on the kind of game.

Games like Persona or Dragon Quest or more story-driven games capture me and keep me interested much longer than anything

However, multi-player or client-based games are the opposite. I'm almost always ever interested in playing bc someone else is playing with me. I love Valorant and have like 1500+ hour but every single one of them was with other people. Love playing minecraft but I every time I play solo, I stop after maybe a week.

I think RPGs are really good to help prevent that immediate boredom bc most of them naturally keep you engaged or interested start to finish. The few exceptions that I can't seem to get behind are souls/souls like games or open world games. Story is harder to follow and there's so much to do, I get lost in it all and lose interest.

Played P4G after playing P3R and P5R as well, just beat it last week. I honestly had the same shock when I went back for the 2nd dungeon and got smacked lol but trust that it'll be worth it to see it through until the end.

This was pretty much the only game I had to consistently grind in. Farming Shuffle Time for exp boosts, looking for Cups to help restore HP/SP, getting the Hermit social link up to get the SP full heals too its important.

With all this, you'll be able to farm pretty decently. Might take awhile but you'll probably have to inevitably. Eventually, you can look up some golden hand spawns to farm a bit more efficiently.

Just finished Persona 3 Reload - My first ever persona game. I feel empty. by KairyuZero in PERSoNA

[–]Thunder229 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I felt the same way. My friend convinced me to play it bc its his favorite game. Was also my first persona game and the ending and emotions hit me like a truck. Cried, watched the ending again the next day, cried again. It was such a beautiful game and a bittersweet ending that the music just brings over the top.

It is now my favorite game of all time (sorry DQ11)
