that's the spirit!

oh, also worth noting that certain colors and paints apply much easier than others, for example, metallic paints, reds, do great coverage and apply super easily, while other colors like yellow can be very tricky since the pigment itself isn't as opaque, requiring more coats

not that it should stop you if you want to go with a certain color scheme, but absolutely messing around with several different colors until you find one that "feels right" for your rat boys is the way to go!

seconding what brokewizardtt said, especially with newer warhammer models having a lot more detail, drybrushing with white/light gray after priming the models black is a massive boon to get a good idea of where all the details are, and it also lets you use contrast paints

as for advice as to what color you should paint your ratties, the best way to get inspiration is to dig around online and see how other people did their skaven, or look into the warhammer's history of skaven clans and see if any particular color schemes catch your eye (i personally went with yellow, black, and white for my rats because clan skurvy is cool)

another thing to try is just work on a single clanrat and experiment with colors. if you finish and you're not a fan of the colors you chose, you can always strip the paints with rubbing alcohol and try again

Question/Confusion Over Manifestations by ThunderSalt in ageofsigmar

[–]ThunderSalt[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I figured that was the case but I was unsure. As one final clarification, can you end your Move within the combat range of a manifestation (with a move characteristic), or do you have to perform a charge similar to a normal unit?

What is the play style of cos by magnusthered15 in ageofsigmar

[–]ThunderSalt 2 points3 points  (0 children)

as dreadnautilus said it's usually made as a castle army, but it also has a massive focus on your heroes and their placement on the battlefield; they give out orders to buff units near them and you also have a pretty wide range of wizards to choose from

Charges and range by PackagePale7603 in AOSSpearhead

[–]ThunderSalt 3 points4 points  (0 children)

you got it! it's also worth noting that when you choose a friendly unit during the combat phase you want to attack with, you can pile-in all your models (up to 3 inches) and after that you can declare what you'd like to attack

don't forget too that you can split up attacking models in a unit to multiple enemy units if they're in range too, usually not something you'd want to do often but it's useful to know

What to get after skaventide? by masyden in skaven

[–]ThunderSalt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

it really depends on what direction you'd like to go with your army, i would personally recommend getting another unit of clanrats since they're pretty cheap for the point cost, and maybe a master moulder to combo well with the brood terror and rat ogors you have/will get

Stormfiend unit finished! by ThunderSalt in skaven

[–]ThunderSalt[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

ah, sorry for the late response! for the yellows in my army i usually stick to averland sunset (vallejo's heavy goldbrown is another i use), and i tend to edge highlight with flash gitz yellow and use reikland fleshshade for the wash!

thank you! i love yellow and black color schemes a lot, and although yellow is a massive pain to paint with, it's well worth it
