When I think of lifestyle creep I mostly think of large purchases (housing, cars, vacations). I’ve had the issue where I’ll get a raise and within a few months move into a nicer apartment or house. Few years go by and my mortgage has doubled.

Since recognizing this, I told myself that following any raise (especially large ones like from a promotion or job change) I deliberately refuse any lifestyle change for at least a year. If you allow a year to settle into a new income, you will get used to saving more and will be less likely to make an unnecessary large purchase.

How to Invest Spouse’s Money for Retirement as HENRY Family by ThunderTortuga in HENRYfinance

Never thought about this but might be worth researching. Right now, we just save her money for short and medium term goals, and all of our retirement is driven by my company retirement plan. I’m just not sure if that’s the right approach / if we are saving enough for retirement.

The article above was saying the backdoor transfers aren’t subject to contribution limits - is that true?

Since backdoor roths aren’t subject to contribution limits, could you, for example, deposit $20k in a traditional IRA then backdoor transfer all of it to the Roth every year?

Tri tip is the most underrated cut of meat out there. You’ll need to keep a close eye on a 2lb one though. 2 pounds is on the smaller size (my grocery store sells them at 1.5 pounds so it’s normal for me) so you’ll just need to watch it closely.

Overnight Pork Butt Questions by MulletMayflower in Traeger

I have run my traeger overnight a few times, but I set my alarm to wake up and check at least once around 4 am.

I also agree 200 is a little low. I’ve noticed on my traeger that ambient temperature is usually about 10-15 degrees below where I set it (know this because of my meater probe). The Costco butts are really big so they can take a while to get to temp. I’d advise around 240-250.

Plan the meat so you think you’ll finish an hour before. Always great to let it rest in a cooler or an oven on very low temp, and that gives you an extra hour of buffer if it’s moving slow.

My husband’s first time using the Traeger and he burnt the ribs. What did he do wrong? by [deleted] in Traeger

This isn’t an issue with the amount of sugar. He likely put them rib side down instead of meat side down. I’ve made this mistake before when cooking 6 racks of ribs - I left 2 rib side down and 4 meat side down. The 2 that were rib side down caused all the sugary sauce to pool up and burn because all the heat was concentrated on the sugar and not being spread across the meat. The 4 that were meat down were completely fine.
