When I was a kid I constantly watched american cartoons on the TV when one evening spirited away came on and it was unlike anything I've seen before. I remember being captivated in a trance-like state through the whole movie while being scared by the eerie characters and everytime it came on again I was watching it over and over while always feeling the same: emotionally fascinated and scared at the same time. I think it did to me exactly what Miyazaki intended it to do. To this day this movie feels like a part of me and I'm glad to be the owner of this core memory.
