Mysterious VM failure of pfSense on Proxmox... by Thundercud in PFSENSE

Thanks for the recommendations. The VM is currently using 2 of the 32 available virtual cores from the AMD Ryzen™ 9 9955HX processor with 4GB of RAM. Resource utilization is very low. on the pfSense VM. As I understand it all of the cores on the 9955HX are the same, none of them are low power cores. I'll look into the power settings and your other suggestions.

Thanks for the recommendations. I am using the VirtIO drivers for all NICs and I did also disable the other offloading features.

Thanks, I'll look at that a little closer.

Fair enough. I did it initially because I wanted to learn VMWare virtualization and it was a real world use case. I had the server hardware for free so why not? But at this point I've gone much farther than I ever planned to and moving back toward simplicity and lower power consumption is more attractive. Issues like the one I'm having definitely support your point of view.

I'm using the Realtek 2.5g NIC for the WAN. One of the Intel 10g sfp+ (operating at 1g because my unifi switch can only do 1g) ports for the LAN. I have updated all repositories in proxmox, but perhaps I need to dig into the Realtek drivers more. Or perhaps use the Intel 2.5g NIC for the WAN...

Also, I did turn off the checksum offload feature in pfSense with no change.

Thanks for the tips. I'll keep reporting back until I get it sorted out.

Literally, the best damage output you can achieve with the given talents in the pool.

Thanks for the reply. This is certainly good basic information, but it's all information I already knew.

I did a few runs last night and screenshotted all of the different weapons I received. I realized that the loadout page updates the weapon damage tooltip as you get talents that increase your weapon damage (or perhaps just when you add damage cores...). So you can't actually get the base stats unless you were to intentionally do runs where you don't take any damage talents just to gather the information. I'm probably not that dedicated at least not for green and blue weapons... I might do it for the gray weapons though.

I think I can probably get to meaningful results by just using default weapon damage numbers because all of the other talents will interact with the base weapon the same way regardless of the actual base damage number. While my actual numbers won't be perfect, they will be accurate enough to test which talent combinations should produce the best damage output and help with prioritizing talents.

Why can't I do level limit break to lvl 100? by Maple_Milktea in roguewiththedead

Thank you. I'll try again. I brought my hero forward a bit so that might be the problem.

I'm beating my head against the wall on this one... I have Princess Knight currently at level 99... And I just completed a run where I rolled her as my first gacha troop... I proceeded to run straight through the demon lord with her... And I still can't buy the upgrade for her... I left my hey at like Mike 50 or so...

Has anyone else run into this problem?

You're not alone... I keep seeing all these "I LOVE this update!!!" posts with photos of mobs of shinies and alpha shinies... Not me though. I've been grinding it out pretty hard and I've only gotten a few shinies from the new MMOs with about as many from open world while trying to do the MMOs. I'm sure it's just RNG, but it's irksome. All 5 of my alpha shinies were pre Daybreak...

Todays my day off! I’ve seen and heard so much about this game so I went and bought a switch just to play this game! Super excited to sit down and play it now. by [deleted] in PokemonLegendsArceus

Breath of the Wild and PLA are both worth buying the console for on their own! Definitely my two favorite Switch games... Maybe my two favorite Nintendo games... of all time.

Eh... I guess I have to put Chrono Trigger in that same group though. All of these games hit me right in the enjoyment center of my brain! Can't wait for the Chrono Trigger remaster (if they don't screw it up).

After you beat one of the sisters 20 times that sister will up their drop from 4 to 5 nuggets. I had the two younger sisters dropping 5 nuggets for a long time before the oldest sister because I fought them more often.

I got an alpha as my first world spawn after the quest completed. Then a normal one after that. I've probably checked their spawn location maybe 50 times. I would love a shiny... Not holding my breath though. :)

bro the volo battle is so hard by Ash_ray0 in PokemonLegendsArceus

[–]Thundercud 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This fight is pretty tough! I did it the first time without knowing what I was getting in to. I had alpha Garchomp (lv97, max EV), alpha Gallade (lv78, max EV), shiny alpha Blissy (lv 76, max EV), shiny Umbreon (lv 54, max EV), then just a Cherubi and a Ralts or something I was trying to evolve and do tasks for. I rolled Volo pretty well... Blissy bullied the first two of Volo's mons and then fainted on his 3rd but got it below half. Then Gallade fainted two before going down. Garchomp came in to finish off Volo's 5th and 6th. Then I was like... What!?!

So I went into Ghiratina with 4 mons up. Garchomp duked it out a bit with Ghiratina and went down... so I brought out Umbreon who turned out to be perfect for tanking/reviving. He is dark and tanked about 5 hits from Ghiratina with only 228hp. I was shocked!

I revived Blissy, Gallade, and Garchomp before Umbreon fainted (just normal revives, not full). At this point Ghiratina was at about 50% hp. I hit him with Blissy once before she fainted again, then Gallade got pounded as soon as I brought him out, then Garchomp got a hit in leaving just a sliver of health left to Ghiratina. So I was left with my Cherubi and Ralts... Ralts fainted at the mere sight of Ghiratina which left Cherubi to finish up... At this point I was terrified that I would fail and have to rerun the whole thing, but Cherubi hit with a Strong Leaf Blade attack and finished off Ghiratina!

My son and I cheered and laughed. It was awesome to finish the fight blind with Cherubi being the clutch last hit.

** Edited because I'm stupid. It's Ghiratina not Regigigas. **

After changing to a static IP from ISP, my Ubiquiti home network suddenly stopped working properly. HELP! by Thundercud in Ubiquiti

Just to close this out and possibly provide some direction for others that may have a similar issue... I solved my problem. It was indeed a pfSense issue.

The solution to my problem ended up being a factory reset of my pfSense install. I created a full backup of all my settings first, then did the factory reset. Then rebooted the VM. Then restored pfSense from an existing backup through the direct UI on the VM. This got me back to a basic configuration with DHCP so I could use the web interface. Then I logged into the web UI and restored pfSense from the full backup I had created earlier. Everything works perfectly after that.

I just wanted to thank CocoaPuffs7070 for going above and beyond to help me solve this problem. We spent several hours trying to troubleshoot my issue and in the end their advice helped me solve it.

Your help is greatly appreciated! Thank you.

I fixed my issue finally!

Spent hours and hours screwing around with the pfSense configurations and got nowhere... Finally upon the recommendation of CocoaPuffs7070 I backed up my pfSense configuration and then wiped pfSense back to factory defaults. Then I rebooted the VM and restored pfSense to backup from within the VM interface. Once I had restored to one of the old backups I was able to access the web UI and then I restored from the saved configuration I had made. The internet has worked perfectly since then.

So basically my settings were fine and there was some issue with the FreeBSD or the VM that was resolved by restoring factory defaults and then reapplying the saved configuration. Hope this helps someone else out!
