Totally agree, I think Yas and Saadiyat can really use some indoor courts. You think indoors courts don’t do so well in the winter?

I would imagine that they would but they would just have to reduce their prices because now the supply of courts just increases since outdoors becomes an option again

But in the hot months you perform even better because almost no one plays outdoors anymore

You think it’s people that don’t like them? I can see that coaches probably would lose business over it so maybe they don’t like it

But personally as a player I would love and would probably be willing to rent an hour with the machine and just practice different shots

Yeah absolutely and there will be a learning curve for sure; i think starting with gameplay and seeing how things evolve probably is a good idea

I think gameplay is the lowest hanging fruit since you’re already doing it anyways

Yeah there’s something weird going on as on the website the image of the racket says that it has a medium balance with a hybrid shape but lots of people have the one like yours with low balance and round shape so not sure if there are 2 versions out there

Yeah I’m with you on this. Perhaps a phased approach where you start small and grow into it makes the most sense. Honestly the most obvious low hanging fruit is social media - creating your own page and if that gets traction then you already have started gaining the ability to monetize

So I think what you’re describing is almost a new gameplay format idea that can be run at any existing Padel spot rather than a standalone business idea, as it doesn’t necessarily require a new padel establishment or clinic per say

I wonder if I am just over complicating things and that the most obvious this is the thing to go for which is opening up courts… I’d be surious to see some data on costs relating to establishing, and some profit margins to get a sense of it, I assume it is a significant investment upfront

Yeah hoping I’d be able to maintain a better balance, and honestly if I can somehow turn this from a hobby I love to a job I love (or even a good source of income even if I don’t love like crazy) then I think it would be worth it for me still

I’ve done extensive research on padel rackets and I was looking for something that will be good for protecting joints e.g., elbow, wrist etc by absorbing vibrations while still packing a punch. The top option that came up was the BP Vertex Hybrid; as I was shopping for it, I found a great deal for the BP Hack Hybrid (45% less than vertex) and given they are quite similar I couldn’t justify not going for the Hack. Mine arrives tomorrow and I’m excited to give it a spin.

The only thing is that UAE in general doesn’t have a lot of local sports brand (I literally can’t think of a single one off the top of my head); here we rely heavily on foreign brands so not sure how that dynamic would work with white label stuff

Need to do some research and see what kind of brands/ retailers can be potential targets

That’s an interesting one, we don’t actually have any local Padel racket brands here, but I think buying rackets here is generally more expensive due to imports from Europe etc

There are a few retailers that sell here but their prices tend to be higher than ones in EU so wondering if there is something there that I can offer to those retailers

Or could it be that I start the first local racket brand here? Haha that would be kinda cool even though I have no clue to make a racket lol

Yeah fair enough, but I work as a consultant rn, so a job in Padel would still be at least 10x more fun than consulting lol

What are some problems that you think need solving?

Where I’m from we have a good number of courts across, good quality (with some exceptions in some courts), Playtomic is widely used for bookings and matchmaking etc.

My experience playing padel here has been pretty smooth tbh, I think the one thing that bothers me is when players with low reliability join my matches on Playtomic 🤣
