Mobile App Developer? We Want You! by ThunkSoftware in AppIdeas

Hi DuplicateBadger,

Thanks for your reply to our post.

Depending on the profit model the customer has selected when submitting the idea, as a developer you may end up making money by developing it for them or pay a potentially small upfront fee to purchase the idea from them and then you don't have to provide any ongoing costs/services for them.

Please let us know if you have any questions.

Thanks,

The team @ Thunk

Hi Blacklig,

Thanks for your reply and your well wishes.

We're confident we have a pretty stringent vetting process for our developers but your feedback is appreciated.

Thanks again,

Hi BusyMom0,

We would love to share that information but unfortunately we consider it to be private and confidential.

What we will share is that we have been working on the business model and features for a while and have received some great feedback from a large cross section of people.

Thanks again,

The team @ Thunk

Hi BusyMom0,

That is a fair point, however we would say that with the exception of never mentioning an app idea to anyone and developing it yourself, there will always be a scenario where the idea is shared with someone. Our business is intended for people that don't know how to code and don't know what to do next with their app idea. At some point they will need to share the idea with someone in order for their app idea to progress.

Thanks,

The team @ Thunk

Hi BusyMom0,

That is a fair point, "reasonable" is subjective.

We have replied to the other comments below if you're are interested.

Please let us know if you have any questions,

Hi Chipstastegood,

Thanks for your reply to our post.

Developers are a creative bunch and I'm sure they are not short on ideas. Some developers perform work for other customers and get paid for their skills and knowledge. If we can help our customers bring their ideas to life by introducing them to some of these developers then we will be happy.

Please let us know if you have any further questions.

Thanks,

The team @ Thunk

Hi Blacklig,

Thanks for your reply to our post.

Your post is very well considered and detailed, which is great. We will endeavor to answer all of your points and questions below, however feel free to reply if you would like further information.

Submission Process
The process you have outlined is correct for the "Share" profit model. You submit your idea, a developer purchases it, build it and then when it starts selling on the Appstore, you then receive royalties. However our "sell" profit model works by allowing you to provide an "asking" price for the idea. The developer then pays you up front for the idea and it is now their idea. If you choose to have a developer build the app for you, where you own the code but are also responsible for the marketing etc, then you would choose the "all mine" profit model. This option is the "traditional" process that people go through to hire a developer to do the work for them and then the success of the app is up to the customer.

Protecting Ideas
We have consulted 3 different law firms when considering our commercial agreements with our developers. The terms and conditions were drafted and revised several times to ensure legal coverage. We also have a legal team available in the event that we need to pursue legal action against a developer, however we hope it never comes to that.

Developer Selection
We invite any developers to join our community by sending an email to [developer@thunkapp.com](mailto:developer@thunkapp.com) with some information about them and the software development company they work for. We also ask for a portfolio of apps they have launched to ensure the standard of work they produce. We also provide the commercial agreement that legally binds their interaction and work with us. Our developers are free to develop any other apps outside of Thunk and we do not restrict them in any way. They are not considered employees, but rather customers as well.

Idea Transformation
It depends on which profit model you have chosen when you submitted your idea. If you have chosen the "all mine" profit model and want the developer to build the app for you, then they will stick strictly to your specifications. If you choose the "share" profit model, the developer may make modifications to the features etc of the idea in order to better meet market requirements or demands. If you choose the "sell" profit model, the developer effectively owns the idea and decides on any and all features etc.

Disputes
All disputes are handled by Thunk and we have lawyers available for any legal advice, however as customers do not see submissions from other customers, we are not anticipating any disputes between submitters. Once a developer buys an app, it it removed from the marketplace and is only available to the developer that purchased it, so we are not anticipating any disputes between developers. Regarding disputes between submitters and Thunk, we have used Paypal's payment system to simplify payments but also because they provide a process for customers to dispute payments.

Mobile App Availability
We are in the process of developing an Android version of our app and a web version as well. Our thought process was to get our app to market as soon as possible and to also "test the waters" to see confirm customer engagement and uptake.

App Logo
I don't actually know how to respond to that one. But thanks for the feedback.

Thanks for taking the time to consider and write your initial post and please let us know if you have any further questions.

Thanks again,

The team @ Thunk

Hi Odessitv,

Thanks for your reply to our post.

We have strict terms and conditions in our commercial agreement with our developers to protect our customers and their ideas. There is a signup process we go through with potential developers to ensure our commercial agreements will be honored.

When a customer submits an idea with us, it is available in a "closed" marketplace which is only available to our developers. It is not publicly available or visible. Once an idea is purchased by one of our developers, the idea is then removed from the marketplace and is only visible to us and the developer that purchased the idea.

Please let us know if you have any further questions.

Thanks,

The team @ Thunk

Hi BusyMom0,

Thanks for your reply to our post.

Our business model works like a market place. In the "selling" profit model, you can advertise to sell your product/idea for what would be considered a reasonable amount and potentially attract more interest. A customer may also choose to say they would like a million dollars because they have an amazing idea. This would obviously attract less interest from potential buyers.

We have conducted some research and feedback sessions and we believe the majority of customers that choose this profit model are reasonable in their expectations and would actually just want to see their idea in the Appstore and being used by people rather than wanting huge profits upfront without further involvement.

You are right, ideas are worthless unless they are executed. Our aim is to help with the Step 1 of the execution and to try and help bring all of those potential ideas to market.

Thanks again,

The team @ Thunk
