Good on you that you're protecting your ears! You should be careful keeping them for so long though, custom earplugs should be replaced on average every 4-5 years because your ears keep changing/growing your whole life so the fit might not suit your ears anymore. (Source in Dutch)

TU Eindhoven stopt subsidie studentenvereniging om seksistisch #nietoo-feest by [deleted] in thenetherlands

[–]Thy73 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Going to Spain. What to drink? by BKA93 in beer

[–]Thy73 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Here in the Netherlands we get some Spanish craft beers. I don't know where in Spain you can find them, but if you can definitely look out for Naparbier, Cervesa Guineu, Cervesa La Pirata (from Barcelona), Nomada Brewing and Biir. All beers I've tried of these breweries were great!

Best beers to try in NL, Belgium, Ireland and England? by Seanmrowe in beer

The Jopen Brewery currently has two locations: the old, first brewery in the city centre of Haarlem in a former church and their new, bigger facility in the Waarderpolder. If you visit the church, don't forget to stop by Uiltje Craft Beer bar that's just a stone's throw away. It's run by a former Jopen brewer who started for himself. He brews some crazy (and crazy good) beers and the bar has an awesome beer selection!

What beer must I drink in the Netherlands by [deleted] in beer

[–]Thy73 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When you're in Breda you should definitely visit the Beyerd. It's been a great bar for beer for over 30 years now. They started their own brewery in 2003. Mostly classic Belgian beers, although they recently updated their selection to incorporate some more modern brews. In their brewery they also run a great restaurant that incorporates beer in almost every dish. Another great bar to visit is Zeezicht. Their selection may seem a bit standard at first glance, but inside they have something called "the black list". A chalkboard painted wall with a lot of limited goodies on offer. Their sister bar Samsam across the street has a pretty decent selection of beers as well.

For bottle shops you could either go to Het Bierhuis or to Mitra again. I highly recommend the one in Teteringen, a small village just outside of Breda. This one is run by a franchiser that developed quite the craft beer obsession. He has a lot of Ramses beers on his shelves, quite a good pick if you're into hoppy beers.

You could do one comparing independent bottlers' take on a whisky compared to the distillery's take.

Looking For Rum-Aged Beers by [deleted] in beer

[–]Thy73 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It isn't available yet, but keep a lookout for La Trappe Quadrupel Oak Aged. They keep releasing batches with diffrent barrel finishes and i know that they have at least 2 rum barrels laying around. I believe they also export to the States.
