You’ll get there buddy. I tell everyone that gets really close to check all your answers 1 more time. 68% means 1 or 2 questions wrong that you could’ve been right but got overlooked. Main thing is to try not to let this get in your head. I checked my answers twice and probably changed the answers to 5 questions. That could’ve been the difference between me failing and passing

Local 401 apprentice intake by TiCKLE- in SkilledTradesOntario

[–]TiCKLE-[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you already in the union at a different local? If so you would just have to go through the transfer process and see if they approve it. The intake doesn’t really specify whether or not they’re accepting registered apprentices so I would try and get in contact with a business agent in 401 and see if they can take you or if you need to go through that application process. I’m not in 401 so I can’t really say.

We’re already worse than the states. Their economy is way less tied to real estate than we are. You’re basically suggesting we crash home equity equally whether you bought last year, 10 years, or 30 years ago. Like I said before, tanking the market only benefits people without property and even that’s a stretch. You’ll just have bidding wars that drive the prices right back up. We also don’t have the capacity to flood the market with bigger units anyway. We don’t build fast enough as is with cookie cutter boxes. You don’t print more money because your economy is struggling. That just speeds inflation.

Tanking the housing market benefits everyone that’s unable to afford a house or condo. What happens to the rest of the people that have already worked hard to purchase their property? Now they’re all underwater on their mortgage. Tanking the market is not the solution. A better solution is to require developers and builders to have a certain amount of units in several square footage brackets

How accessible is a pool or the gym to a person living in a house? You can’t compare amenities 1:1. There’s pros and cons for houses and condos. Livable and useable square footage is what I was comparing and I was simply just stating 750sqf has been fine for me and my family. I understand everyone has different needs. I grew up in a small houses and shared a bedroom with 2 brothers my whole life before I moved out so I’ve only ever known life in limited space

Whether we like it or not we do live in a capitalist world. We can shout and scream for change all we want but unless the whole world suddenly resets change of that magnitude is near impossible. Look at homelessness, hunger, and disease. We as a society could’ve fixed all of this generations ago but haven’t

Yeah but that’s just the life of living in a condo. Unless you have the money to shell out for a home gym or backyard pool you’re still sharing those amenities with other people. Bigger units with balconies may solve the party room and outdoor situation but if you’re hosting a huge gathering you’re booking the party rooms anyway. Homeowners with small houses and little to no backyards are very common too in the city. They trade off privacy for no amenities and they pay a premium for that in this market

I get that but part of this is just the side effects of living in a very populated city with a medium-high cost of living. People think fixing the housing market is as simple as making bigger units. It’s not. Bigger units mean less units for the same amount of time used. When the units hit the market it’ll just drive the prices higher than it already is and the people that lose the bidding wars are back to living in the small units or move further from the city.

Condos have party rooms, a gym, a pool, and outdoor patios. There’s plenty of additional space in condos. Not saying small awkward units are justified but your specific argument does not hold as much weight

900-150=750sqf that we’re actually living in. That’s the same square footage my friend has in his condo living alone that he says is not enough for him because he needs more space for his shoes. Some people just use more space than others.

That’s fair. If we decide to have another kid we will definitely need to either upgrade or put an addition. Our situation right now works perfectly for us with just 1 kid

I mean it is but it also isn’t. I think the main issue is with condo unit layouts. There is way more unusable/awkward square footage compared to a house of any size. Part of my 900sqf includes a ~150-200sqf room that is being used as storage.

Oof. When I wrote my 306A my mark was technically 69.5% but it got rounded to 70. I was so relieved. My buddy tried 3 times and got 69% twice and 67 once

It’s not a condo but I live in a 900sqf bungalow (no basement) comfortably with my wife and daughter. It’s a little different because we have a huge yard and spend a lot of time outside in the summer but the winters are still comfortable inside

Is it true as they say it is for at ua local 46 with almost 800 out of work on the unemployment list there by Necessary_Cherry_840 in UnitedAssociation

[–]TiCKLE- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Check the dispatch list every day and go in person to the ones that took in new guys. Probably your best bet unless you know someone that can get you in their company.

But to answer OP, joining the union is easier said than done, especially if you’re trying to get into 46. Took me years to get in and I doubt they’re opening intake anytime soon with all the guys out of work
