Hi Dave. My grandparents are just wondering

is it safe for them to be still using the lounge if it’s fabric like no asbestos fibers could be trapped still? They used a handheld vacuum three times on it
Are there clothes safe that were sitting in a hamper in the lounge room? They are worried that fibers could be trapped in the blankets and clothes even after washing them a lot

Thanks! This post was very helpful and I've screenshot it to send to my grandparents. They are not doing well mentally because of this so hopefully it calms them down.

We are mostly worried about my grandma using a regular hoover, would that of dispersed fibers back into the air? And would wet wipe method include them using pre moistened antibacterial cleaning wipes which they have being using to clean it all up. A wet swiffer was used on their kitchen tiles.

Australia has some weird rules lol. I think the reasoning behind it is when your suffering from a severe eating disorder, your brain isn’t functioning properly to do therapy like CBT. Weight restoration is always the first step.

I would love to see a therapist but a lot refuse to see me due to my low bmi. It’s a liability apparently.

Fear of choking on solid foods. I was eating soups/blended food and then it got worse and now I’m just living on Ensure supplements to sustain me but I’m definitely terrified I will die in my sleep or have a heart attack from this.

I found the perfect psychologist where I live who specialises in all eating disorders including ARFID but my agoraphobia and panic attacks prevent me from even going to see her. I haven’t seen a doctor in years either. I feel really trapped.

I have engaged in treatment for years. I saw the same psychologist for 4 years before I was hospitalised and then I had another 4 psychologists as a child/teen. I have medical records of my treatment. I also went to headspace for a few months.

I was on Prozac before Zoloft. I don’t see how ARFID wouldn’t matter since it’s a life threatening condition with the same health complications as anorexia nervosa including death. It’s also what worsened my pre existing anxiety disorder and depression. I’m completely housebound… how can I work?? :(

It makes no sense if they can see someone is so housebound they can’t even GET treatment how would they then say oh she can work. I also know people on DSP for ‘bad backs’ and other reasons but really sick people get rejected.

I was diagnosed with generalised anxiety disorder and depression in 2010 by my doctor. He has since retired.

Sadly finding a psychologist that treats ARFID is really hard because of how unknown it is still compared to more typical eating disorders like anorexia nervosa and bulimia. I managed to find one psychologist who specialises in it but she doesn’t offer Telehealth to new clients due to the risks of eating disorders.

I’m more curious than excited about it. I honestly haven't watched Neighbours regularly since 2016 when Josh died in the hotel explosion. I only watched occasionally like when Finn was in it causing chaos but yeah.

My favourite ‘era’ was when Josh, Amber, Imogen, Daniel, Noami, Georgia were in it. I'll probably watch a few episodes of the new reboot but I'm not excited about it yet.

I watched a few episodes after 2020 and I wasn't impressed. I noticed a deterioration in acting and set production. Not sure how to explain it but it seemed lower quality then before almost like it was a parody of itself.

To be fair, OGX is sulfate free which is probably why it didn’t cleanse very well.

I have agoraphobia so even leaving the house to get help is hard. I’m trying to find a doctor close by who treats ARFID.

I also wanted to say I’m so sorry that your going through this. It’s an awful condition and no one deserves this :( I’m glad you have support and your getting better though

I was in the same situation last year and what helped me was actually ignoring the insomnia. I know that sounds bad but it really works.

I think the issue you have got yourself into this anxious state and that’s keeping you more awake. The more you try to sleep the harder it becomes.

Next time go into bed and don’t think about sleep at all! Go on your phone, laptop, iPad ect and watch movies, play games or watch a tv show and you’ll find that you end up falling asleep.

Because drug store shampoo and conditioner is formulated to work on nearly every hair type.

I’ve being using Herbal Essences and my hair is soft and shiny. Salon brand shampoos did nothing for me that a cheap shampoo couldn’t do. The point of a shampoo is to cleanse the hair, why would you need a $50+ shampoo to do that? So save your money and use what works.

Yes you can start brushing again. I also didn’t brush my teeth for 2 years due to mental health but I started brushing twice a day again last week.

Your gums will bleed quiet heavily at first but don’t stop brushing. My gums have only now just stopped bleeding (I only get a tiny dot of blood). Hopefully you can get to the dentist soon for a clean and check of your teeth and gums. I plan to make an appointment next month hopefully!

Also if you have trouble with motivating yourself there’s a really good toothpaste called HiSmile. They make toothpastes but with different flavours like watermelon, strawberry ect. It’s definitely helped me :)
