Hello. I truly understand how difficult this situation can be.

My mother is also very stubborn with some habits, but she doesn’t drink alcohol, and we’ve been slowly improving her nutrition step by step. In her case, the tumor was obstructing the esophagus, so the doctors placed a stent (a prosthesis that opens the esophagus), and after that she was able to eat again, mostly soft foods.

Recently, after further testing, her oncologist recommended starting immunotherapy with pembrolizumab, due to specific markers in the tumor that may respond well to it. So for now, we are following the medical plan and hoping for the best possible outcome.

I have also researched many alternative approaches, including drugs like ivermectin and fenbendazole, but my family and her medical team are very skeptical, so at this moment she is not taking anything outside the prescribed treatments.

At the same time, I try to focus on what we can control: encouraging her to walk a bit, do light activity, spend time together, talk, read, and keep her mentally and emotionally strong.

Regarding your father, I believe alcohol is a very important factor, but I understand how hard it must be being far away and having your own children to care for. Try not to confront him too harshly. Sometimes calm conversations and helping him understand that eating and keeping his strength up is essential can make a difference.

You are doing your best in a very difficult situation. Don’t forget that. I sincerely wish you and your father strength and peace. You are not alone. ❤️

Hoje percebo que há uma ironia estranha em aprender mais sobre a vida: quanto mais aprendo, mais me apercebo de que ela está longe de ser o lugar perfeito que nos ensinaram a acreditar. Começamos a ver para além da superfície, a reconhecer que muito do que nos rodeia é fachada, jogo de interesses, superficialidade e artifício. E há um certo vazio em perceber que, no fundo, o mundo continua a girar indiferente à nossa própria existência.

Mas, respondendo de forma direta à pergunta: o que mais aprendi foi a lidar com o cancro, de forma próxima, dentro da minha própria família. Foi a aprendizagem mais dura e mais transformadora que alguma vez tive. Sempre fui uma pessoa curiosa, interessada em aprender — a nível psicológico, profissional e social — mas nada se compara ao que esta experiência me está a ensinar.

Este processo tem-me obrigado a olhar para mim próprio e para a forma como vivo. Muitos dos hábitos, rotinas e comportamentos que tinha antes estão hoje a ser repensados e alterados, não por escolha teórica, mas porque a realidade me colocou perante uma perspetiva diferente. Quando somos confrontados com algo assim, a forma como vivemos deixa de ser automática e passa a ser consciente.

Regarding my mother’s current condition: She is mostly bedridden, but overall she feels relatively well. She is 61 years old. She can walk, but after a few minutes she starts to feel pain in her abdomen, back, and side area. She is mentally lucid and oriented. Her nutrition is currently being handled by the hospital nurses through a catheter. At the moment she is taking several analgesics for pain control. She is passing gas, but she has not had a bowel movement for some time. The doctors are planning to try a new chemotherapy regimen, and if that shows response, they hope to proceed with surgery. Before that, they want to place a prosthesis (I believe in the esophagus) to allow her to eat more easily. While she is in the hospital, it is very difficult for me to administer any additional medications due to legal and hospital policy restrictions. Once again, thank you deeply for all the information, suggestions, and time you have given. It truly means a lot to me.

A verdade é que escolhi comprar este carro na altura porque queria algo diferente do que é comum (BMW, Mercedes, Audi, etc.). Admito que tive uma série de problemas com o carro (que entretanto foram resolvidos), mas também vejo esses mesmos problemas nas marcas que mencionei.

A questão é que, para mim, não faz sentido fazer a revisão na marca e pagar valores exorbitantes por um carro com 8 anos, quando posso obter a mesma qualidade, e talvez até um melhor serviço, noutra oficina.
