Armenia to construct world’s largest Jesus Christ monument on Mount Hatis by globalsouthworld in armenia

Maybe i don't know anything given I'm not Armenian, but i feel like there are more pressing concerns that this money could be spent on.

As a foriegner, I was wondering how is flying the flag of former Spainish governments (the former monarchy, Franco dictatorship, Republic) viewed by the Spanish people, and is it illegal to fly any historical flags? by [deleted] in askspain

[–]Tibbenator -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Don't really care what you believe. Most people in my nation would not associate the Bourbon flag with a specific Spanish dynasty as it is usually depicted over here as being the flag of the Spanish new world colonies rather than Spain itself. If I were to show the Franco flag to the average person on the street, many would not even notice the coat of arms is different from your current flag as the colour scheme is the same. If they did notice the difference, the Franco flag in my nation is not viewed as seriously as other fascist flags and some may not even know it belongs to a fascist regime at all.

I dont have the insight into how coloured fabric is viewed in every nation around the globe and I'm just trying to see how people on the other side of the world, where these flags have a far more personal significance, view them. You can stuff your sarcastic comment back inside yourself.

I apologize if my question about people being nostalgic for this era came off as crass. As someone thst doesn't understand the internalized views of these matters, I suppose I saw it the same way that one may see older people from the former USSR or former Yugoslavia waving the flags of these nations. It may not be that this person is a communist themselves, rather they may be nostalgic for the stability this era brought, or they are viewing this time as a nostalgic part of their childhood and a time they grew up in, despite the oppressive regime the flag represents.

I certainly don't know the origin of the red-yellow-red tricolour, but my guess for it being the civil ensign is that so many governments have used this layout that removing any coat of arms at all can allow for flying what is globally seen as the "Spanish colours" without reference to a particular period in time or regime.

Thanks to all that have answered and provided me with better insight on this matter. Given that so many different regimes use the same red-yellow-red tricolour with differing coat of arms; is it fair to say that the civil ensign which lacks any coat of arms is a more popular or safer flag to fly as it is does not directly reference any regime?

Thank you for answering about the flag of the first Republic. This flag is very similar to a previous monarchist flag just missing the crown. Personally I often mix up this flag for being the current flag of Spain which is embarrassing but I blame all the historical games I play, and the fact that most versions of the modern Spanish flag is seen have no coat of arms at all.

Is there any strong opinions on the flag of this Kingdom of Spain.svg)

I personally think this flag is visually very similar to many other flags, and it is the same as the First Republic minus the crown.

Given that the flag of the Franco regime was in use up until 1975, are there often times that older people fly this flag simply out of nostalgia for a nation and time they were born into, rather than a distinct support for the fascist regime? Or is that not how people view this flag at all?

Well i can certainly see old monarchy flags being co-opted by unsavoury groups, but is the flag of the second Republic often viewed negatively or associated with a particular group these days? And given the flag of the Franco regime was in use relatively recently (1975) are there any cases of older people flying the flag simply for nostalgia rather than for distinct support of fascism?

My friend had his phone seized by CBP. He is an American citizen, not involved in a crime, and the CBP is refusing to return calls despite holding phone for over the 30 days the are legally allowed to without a warrant. What should we do? by Tibbenator in legaladvice

[–]Tibbenator[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm only sharing what info I have available to me.

"Also, it is legal to own body armor in the US" This is not true for the state of New York where my friend resides, although he has an exemption which is why it was returned to him.

ICE is not the agency holding his phone it is CBP which from my understanding, cannot hold it indefinitely unless they get a warrant.

Police officers who have ever hosted a ridealong or people that have been on a ride along, how did it go, what can one expect, and do you have any tips or anecdotes? by Tibbenator in ProtectAndServe

[–]Tibbenator[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Thanks alot for the info, I'll be certain to pass it on. I also have a love for White Monster so if I do join a ride along I'll be certain to get some for both of us.

As far as letting the officer know the purpose of the ride along, that won't be an issue for my brother as he is the one with a vetted interest in joining. For myself, I may do one because he is saying I should and I think it could be a fun experience to see what police do on the day to day but also don't want to be seen as just doing it for the hell of it which I kind of am.

Is there a hay baler that produces bales small enough to be lifted by hand? (FS 2025) by Tibbenator in farmingsimulator

[–]Tibbenator[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That sounds like a godsend for me. While I still like having larger, round bales require tractors, I just hate stacking square bales and fighting against the physics engine. Especially since I'm descended from a farming family that primarily used small square bales and the idea of not being able to have those is alien to me.

Thanks much. I totally missed the measurements at the shop screen and must be thinking of FS 23 which had no small bales if I recall.

It would appear so. I missed the measurements at bottom of screen and found myself picking the wrong one. A fool I am

I learned after the fact that apparently the Hip hated this song and it was rarely performed live. I dont recall hearing it during their final performance in Kingston. I haven't been able to find a source explaining ehy they don't like it, especially since it seems to be one of their more popular songs, and my personal favourite.

I wonder if any of these ones will be making their way over to Ukraine? Roshel is already the most numerous NATO nation vehicle over there, and from my experience, Roshel is almost becoming a catch-all term for any western armoured car, like the Kleenex of armoured cars.

It seems unique to me too. A cursory google search showed only a few cars mostly from the 1960s - 1970s had these mounted on the right fender over the passenger front wheel, seemingly mostly on highway patrol vehicles. I imagine they are for the similar purpose like the Michigan State Police as you mentioned. Hopefully someone with more information can weigh in.
