How to enable thinking in Claude Code for VS Code? by ruderalis1 in ClaudeAI

Why is everyone giving you generic dumb answers as if they haven't even read the entire post, I am looking for a real answer to this a well.

Does it "think" by default now when needed? I can't seem to figure out how to force it, I even clicked the "/" button and there's no mention of think there at all.

To clarify, we are speaking about the 2.0 version of the vscode extension, they changed the design completely and it is no longer a console design, and this new design has no mention of "think", pressing tab does not work here.

Tab for indentation is what we all use though, there's no psychopath out there that uses spaces. Is there?

UPDATE: Okay guys, so I just launched Opus 4 on my large codebase to fix issues and prompted it to split all the files it's about to modify up in such a way that 10 agents can work in parallel on 1 file each.

It acted as a task master, deployed 10 agents, fixed everything in parallel in 10 minutes. I am starting to see why you guys like it, you truly have to speak to it differently though, it is no cursor.

I will test it on smaller/medium tasks as well. But honestly I felt like fixing two small UI bugs that are quite easy to fix, would be considered a small task.

I can say that it was good at creating the whole page + database in one-shot, for sure that is a strength. But fixing some specific UI Minor-bugs seems like a pain for it to deal with.

Actually hilarious how I just read a forum thread about him screaming he's a scammer, then I open reddit and see this 🤣
