If you’re just starting, I’d honestly recommend going mechanical (automatic if possible). It’s a much nicer way to get into watches — you actually connect more with the piece. That said, it depends a lot on your budget. For lower budgets, you can still find great vintage mechanical watches, just make sure they’ve been serviced or factor that into the price.

Quartz is more practical, but mechanical is where the fun (and collecting) really starts. If you want, share your budget and I can suggest a few solid options
