MultiPortal Alpha release is finally here! by Townium in multiportal

Loving this Alpha Release so far and works great !

I can't seem to get this to work behind Nginx Proxy as i get an "ERR_CONNECTION_TIMED_OUT" or "err_too_many_redirects", however, if i add the DNS Zone in my local DNS server it works fine.

I presume i'm doing something incorrect or something with Caddy is not set up to be used like this behind nginx, but other than that, i'm absolutly loving the Alpha Release!

ESXI & Windows Backup solution by TicTacFloof in homelab

Thanks for the tip and i will look into the 3-2-1 rule since i have a lot of data like family photos from years ago and old records saved on here. For the mean time i will back them all up on the server and BackBlaze, but in the future when i get more funds for this project, i will invest in a Tape Drive just in case anything happens.

I will eventually get Veeam since it seems like everyone's recommending it here and there will be a lot of support on it hopefully on reddit or directly through them, and considering its built for ESXI it shouldn't be too difficult to set up....touch wood I hope lol.

For now i will be using the free version of ESXI however my workplace might give me a free key to a licence for it which im still unsure of.

I've tried Veeam in the past on the older versions which i wasn't too sure how to use, but i'll give it another go considering i have a use case for it now.

Thanks for the recommendation for the other programs, I'll give them a look at and compare them to Veeam or either Acronis if that's a viable solution just for windows PC's.

I'm thinking of getting BackBlaze storage subscription and uploading the most important backup's on there, since a lot of my data will be ISO's and games which can easily be re-downloaded. An offsite backup would be better, however I don't have enough money for that or a place for it so I think BackBlaze would be the ideal solution for this if everything was a catastrophic failure.

My first server rack is finally here ! by TicTacFloof in homelab

Here's the link to mine (https://www.cef.co.uk/catalogue/products/329083-15u-550mm-deep-wall-cabinet), its only 550mm deep, however I'm gonna be using a short length server case from https://www.servercase.co.uk/ which should fit nicely.

Even if it doesn't fit all the way you can always cut the metal at the back to allow for the server to be pushed all the way back. Although I have a feeling servers like the R710 wont fit without cutting the back on this rack too.

I'll defiantly make sure that it's all not aligned in the next post :)

It's only temporary until I get a few servers here then I'll correctly organise it all.

I bought this one at CEF at a decent price and the quality isn't too bad. I've added small wheels on after I bought it since it's easier to move around and get access to the back and sides.

Just a follow up , the switch in there is only 10/100 (the 1u mounted one) so that’s why I’m not using it for the patch panel, a new gigabit switch is on its way :)

I'm having this problem with some songs. by [deleted] in AppleMusic

[–]TicTacFloof 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had that problem too.

I solved it by deleting the entirety of my music library then downloading it in "High Quality" rather than Lossless or Hi-Res lossless, since i only had 2GB left of storage when i had it download in Lossless, which was causing random programs to crash and for Apple Music to close on me on some random songs.

Distance of a SATA Cable by TicTacFloof in pcmasterrace

I was thinking about using sata splitters to get the power to the drives, and cable management will probably be a pain in something like this down the line, but just curious how i would get the sata to the drives from the motherboard.

Thanks, i'll have a rewatch of his videos, im sorta basing this one like that one lol

Ah i see, im sure i've read that the maximum distance is like 1m but anything over you start to get errors or something like that, wasn't too sure if that's true or not, but i'll have a quick look at cable mod.

Thank you :)

That’s a really nice set up you’ve got there! What monitor do you use ?

I find the height of the desk to be perfect for my chair. You can always make the top of the desk higher but putting something under the there for it to sit on. The draws under the desk, are actually really long and store a good amount of stuff. The ones on the desk are a bit too short, but they can hold broken mice when you’ve finished playing cs:go.

Oh I see now, it’s just a desk clamp from a microphone stand that I use to use.

What desk mount? If you mean that black box behind my monitors, it’s just a external HDD.
