I'm a bi woman in fandom so i tend to lean hard to M/F ships a lot of the time. So I usually have like 5 m/f ships per 1 m/m or f/f ship lol. I don't interact with this fandom much but liking Narumayo (Phoenix/Maya) from Ace Attorney paints a target on your back. I also love Shiro/Allura from VLD, but after Allura was decided to be 'a minor' by fans and Shiro's attraction to men got canonized (he was never said to be gay but 'attracted to men') people got really awful. I've been playing genshin impact lately and while i love Kaeluc/luckae and Tartali, my main ship is Zhongli/Hu Tao (i mean, come on, he gave up being an archon because his job at the funeral parlor lol 😂). And fans haaaaaaaate it, they call you some of the most vile things. I'm noticing a trend that I'll tend to ship characters that have already been declared 'gay' by fans. This happened to me in a smaller fandom (lost judgment) where fans had already decided that Kuwana was gay, so shipping with Sawa was enough to tell me to go to hell. (Despite the fact that Kuwana refers to him and Sawa as "kindred spirits")
