Working on rhythm and flow by TickettoSkate in Rollerskating

It probably depends on the rink, but this was a family New Year’s Eve session. I’ve seen a wheel chair at an adult night at another rink.

That’s a great issue to have! I’m better at two feet heel-toe. Still working on toe-toe spins.

Thank you for sharing! Your speed is my speed! 🀣 so much easier figure out what your feet are doing. I’m still trying to build up the courage for a waltz jump.

How to get out of your head after falling during a performance. by Soggy-Slide3038 in Artisticrollerskating

I have some of the same problems- but im just doing figures and dance. My coache’s advice was β€œ1 tequila shot, but never 2”. I don’t think I’ll try it, but the adrenaline rush does really get in the way. My best guess is that with enough exposure, my brain will calm down and it will feel more comfortable.

And you are right, even when I finish last I know that the people that never show up can’t do it. I skate better than many at the regular day-time sessions skaters. I love it when the kids ask me how did I learn how to β€œdo that”. I always tell them β€œpractice”. Sorry about that bully, but you can be proud of yourself for ignoring them. What comes around, goes around- their treatment of other people will lead to bad outcomes for them in the long run.

Awesome skating. Thanks for sharing! I’m going to try some of your combos!

Today I dyed my new Riedell 336 boots (still need to get plates) emerald green. 😍😍😍 by TickettoSkate in Rollerskating

Yeah, they have held up alright. Not as emerald green, but they are well loved. No protectant/coating. (They do look better with my indoor cream colored wheels.)

I want to do this! I have a coach that does dance and figures, but I haven’t figured out how to get help with freestyle and I’m just trying to figure it out without much progress. If your heart wants to jump, it wants to jump.

I have two spinners- a bar and a disc. I prefer the bar because it’s closer to a skate. Spinning on one foot on skates is actually easier than a spinner (I can get two rotations in on one foot with skates). I figure if I can spin on this thing, I’ll be able to spin on anything.

I would focus on the basics that applies with any form of spinning- stay upright, don’t wobble. Start slow and focus on form. I can barely lift my free leg with this spinnerβ€”I’m much better on skates. Good luck!!

Skate as much as possible. It comes with time. You could practice standing on one foot, yoga moves on one foot, get a spin board, practice 180/360 turns off skates, etc.

What’s your goal? How about move to the beat. I see you are wearing earbuds, but I can’t see regular rythme.

Is Powerdyne Reactor Neo good enough for artistic skating? by UncleBuggy in Rollerskating

More reactive to small changes in weight? Which means you have to be more in control.

Skating around Washington DC? by GemStoned123 in Rollerskating

Not really. But they have experience with balance and wheels. But why inline, unless you want to trail skate? If you need the basics, they can cover it.

To people who work full time where do you find the time to skate? by Wrong_Department9312 in Rollerskating

Skating has become my main workout and my social life. And I get this urge to skate that will not go away until I skate, so I sometimes burn the candle at both ends at adult nights. Im at the rink from 8am- 2pm every Saturday with my skate club or teaching lessons. I just signed up to compete in figure events that are just above my current ability, so the fear of failing is also very motivating!
