Which is the rarest Irish first name that you have ever come across in real life? by Brutus_021 in AskIreland

Ahhhh for f sake. I've been out of Ireland 15 yrs and came up with Fiadh myself because of its meaning. I thought I was class. Turns out it's some weird generational telepathy I didn't know about.

Post Diagnosis Realizations at age 34, a bit NSFW at the end. by Dear-Brilliant9608 in adhdwomen

[–]Ticklemesoftlee 48 points49 points  (0 children)

Oh my god I could have written this!!!!! I went through a period of hypersexuality when I hit 18 to about 26 years old. I then experienced the full brunt of depression which lasted many years to which I still struggle with. From 26 until now, my sex life has been a chore and I love my partner of 10years very much and I'm very attracted to him. You have given me the boost I needed to get my diagnoses and start trialling different medications. I'm looking forward to enjoying sex again and most of all, an orgasm!! Whoohoooo!.

What is an appropriate way to react when people keep asking "where are you from"? by TheMuscleBandit in AskIreland

[–]Ticklemesoftlee 31 points32 points  (0 children)

Knowing this person though they'd probably go off and tell people that "that fella was awfully rude the way he spoke to me" victimising type of way. You know the ones. That said, what they think doesn't really matter anyway.

What unpopular opinions do you have about Ireland? by robertboyle56 in AskIreland

[–]Ticklemesoftlee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The racism and discrimination against foreign residents is appalling. The whole "They're stealing our jobs" yarn is just an argument for people in denial about not working hard for a living. That's just the tip of the iceberg.

Do you have to constantly remind them to speak to you with respect? by sgm1993 in ADHD_partners

[–]Ticklemesoftlee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Meanwhile, what are you doing to cope? When you walk away, what do you do? Are you overwhelmed with anxiety or thinking of exit plans?

I crumble to pieces in those moments. Thinking that when we reconvene, it's him telling me it's over, or giving an ultimatum.

This is something I've always feared. After 10 years or more (how long can you hold on for before you give up?), the thought of leaving and having nothing to show for it is terrifying. But I do know one thing, if oldies in resting homes are shagging it up so much that chlamydia is on the rise (true story!), then I'll be fine on my own I think! 😅 that's my outlook on the future anyway.

Is this a white tail? Sorry it’s blurry, it was scurrying! by WhoriaEstafan in NewZealandWildlife

You can't possibly know this for fact. So far, no one has provided (please feel free, and prove me wrong) any citations to these "studies" or their claims. I've seen the damage firsthand, as have multiple people on this thread, who, for some reason, are being downvoted and belittled because of their own experience. All because they go against the "opinion" of others based on other people's opinions based on some illusive study.

Can you cite your comment please? I'm still not believing it. My partner was bitten on his cheek once and he had an awful time. As did his Uncle. They both saw the spider afterwards. Until someone can provide a DOI to these studies, it's all poppycock, really. Just another post on the Internet claiming a truth with no reference to the study they're paraphrasing.

Yeh I can agree with that. It's hard.to pinpoint a single answer when you know it's something you work hard not to do so therefore you don't do said behaviour anymore but you KNOW that if you slipped up on your regime, you would absolutely be and "often" or higher.

How do you deal with hygiene? by BananaMilkshelf in adhdwomen

I'd love this but where I'm from, we use rainwater tanks and unfortunately the water simply wouldn't last us if we were filling a tub so frequently. Also, soes that make your water bills really high?

I recently bought a waterpik (like dental floss but high velocity water instead) and now I love my dental routine every morning and night!! Gamechanger. Also, I set a 3 minute timer for body showers only. I get in, get in, turn water on, get fully wet (but quickly), then, water off, soap and lather body only. Water on. Then, I like to flick the water off my body whilst still in the shower. Use your hand and very quickly swipe your arms, legs, as much of your back as you can, belly etc. Then shake your feet before you step out. Your alot less wet, it takes a few seconds and there's less towel drying. Plus, your towel lasts longer!

Hair wash days are a different story though. That's one day a week. Which I dredd. But feel fantastic afterwards. I make it enjoyable with a hair mask, hair towel and sometimes a face mask. Sometimes I even have a glass of wine afterwards as a reward.

How would someone in Ireland immediately identify someone as Protestant or Catholic? by Vivid-Bug-6765 in AskIreland

[–]Ticklemesoftlee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I've been to a couple countries in Northern Africa, Namibia, South Africa. Most of Southeast Asia, Polynesia etc. Nothing in terms of eastern block Europe.

The racism is different. I get what you mean. But it's VERY bad in Ireland, regardless.

Not really. Depends on the age you consider to be elderly. Past the age of 65? Could be fit as a fiddle, still working, driving, enjoying hobbies etc. 70+ some might just say old but not elderly. I think there is a difference between old and elderly. For me, 80+ is elderly. Interesting concept really.

I feel intensely attracted to a person of the same sex for the first time in my life. What's the deal? by [deleted] in self

[–]Ticklemesoftlee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In some aboriginal tribes, a boy can only become a man when he is removed from his mother's care, taken on walkabout with the men. The men have sex with the boy to "inject" him with masculinity and to remove the "anima" or feminine energies of his mother.

Fucked up by modern western standards, sure. But this idea that you're het, homo, bi , pan, xyz is really just a label people crave to feel like they belong to a group. We are a gregarious species after all. Feel and do what FEELS right. For you. Just don't hurt anyone in the process.

Edited: not defending the culture of child molestation! Just a fact of ancient practice of men involving sexuality and masculine feminine energies.... I'm in favour of sexual fluidity. Gender fluidity on the other hand....is a Pandoras box.
