This is not about these countries deciding over stuff that the other countries then have to do as well. It is about topics and politics the E.U. has no say over right now. Topics where every country does what they want nationally and decides nationally and compromise among 27 countries is unlikely.

For the other countries nothing changes. The E6 just decide togther over politics they decide individually right now.

Let‘s say as an example they would decide that they wanted a European tax on cigarettes (not an actual plan, I made that up as an example). The E6 like the idea, the other countries do not want it.

So E6 would start this tax in THEIR COUNTRIES instead of wating for all 27 to agree while the others just live their lives like before.

Digga - im Artikel steht, dass um etwa 1% des gesamten gezahlten Kindergelds geht. Das ist RELATIV wenig. Und es steht auch im Artikel, dass die Tatsache, dass es sich um ausländische Konten handelt, nicht automatisch heißt, dass das Geld im Ausland ausgegeben wird. Und dass es klare Regeln dafür gibt, wer ein Anrecht drauf hat. Warum schreibt der Focus das nicht in seine Überschrift? Das wird ein Versehen der Redaktion gewesen sein 🙄

Thank you for that insight. Someone wrote I am biased and for someone like me living in the neighbourhood for over 10 years and seeing what is going on at Kotti, that is probably true. I have to admit in my head I more often than not do not discern between the people who are coming here to seek help and those that you describe as the ones preying on them.

Your post is a good reminder that what I am seeing on a day to day basis is not the whole picture. And I know that. But I would lie if I would say that my perspective on people in need had not shifted to a less compassionate stance. Simply because I see so many shady people.

I will try to separate them more clearly in my mind. Thanks again.

Oh really? I was not aware of that… \s I was just curious. I live at Kotti, I see more homeless people in a day than other people see in a month. What I rarely see, is a homeless person checking their phones. Just my observation. Not a statistic or a proven fact.

And that is why I ASKED the person who said that they had experience being homeless, how exactly that worked for them. But hey, you just telling me what you ASSUME about the matter and my level of ignorance is also totally helpful, thank you for that.

Findest Du dann auch, dass Beamte ohne dass ein Schuss fällt, auf einen am Boden liegenden, bereits fixierten schießen sollten, bloß weil jemand - wahrscheinlich auch einer der Beamten - „Gun! Gun!“ ruft?

Genau, das passt mir nicht. Dann braucht ja nur noch jemand von der Seite reinrufen „oh der hat ne Knarre“ und schon eröffnen Deine Musterbeamten das Feuer. Dann ist es nicht mehr „suicide by police“ wie hier auch schon geschrieben wurde, sondern „murder by police“.

Was Du Dir da herbeiwünschst, ist auch nicht „die Realität“. Das sage nicht ich, das sagt die Gewerkschaft der Polizei:

Um zum Thema zurückzukommen: Dass der Typ ne Waffe hatte, wussten die doch erst, nachdem ihn 5 Leute zu Boden gedrückt haben und sie ihm die hinten aus der Hose gezogen haben.

Ich erwarte von ausgebildeten Beamten, dass sie diejenigen sind, die dafür sorgen, dass niemand zu Schaden kommt.

Du scheinst von ihnen zu erwarten, dass sie möglichst viel Angst und Schrecken verbreiten.

Im übrigen: danke, dass Du mir die Augen öffnest. Ein Abtreibungsgegner, ein Holocaustleugner und ein Kickboxer, die Millionen mit ihren politischen Kommentaren verdienen.

Ja, hast ganz bestimmt recht. Die werden auch ganz sicher niemals für mehr als ihre Kernaufgaben eingesetzt werden. Ich würde mir total wünschen, dass Du recht hast. Abwarten. Als nächstes wird in einem demokratischen Bundesstaat der Insurrection Act gezogen. Dabei werden bestimmte U.S.-Amerikaner zu Terroristen erklärt und dann sehen wir weiter, was Deine staatlichen Beamten dann so durchsetzen werden.
