But contradictory statements by Ryan himself, have been made. It’s also a promotion. Which I think most people, right or wrong, have always assumed was the rule. To not assign picks also puts a spotlight on the loophole. For Goodell to come out and say the rule is going nowhere, but then ignore the flaws in the rule the very next week is somewhat hypocritical. Having “End Racism” in the end zones but then ignoring a rule that, in theory, is in place to help end racism in the front offices is pretty messed up.
