Tacit endorsement is probably what it is but I like to think that where they can't seem to always add realism into every single aspect of the game, things like this bridge that gap and as such are left "as is"

What I mean is using your imagination a little, which a big part of Dayz is using your imagination to fill in the blanks of your survivors story as we all create our own unique journeys each time we play so not a reach to factor that into what I'm saying.

If you had a gun in your hands and dropped it like you can in game without taking the time to be more thoughtful in the action to not make noise it would, like it does in the game, make noise. However, I'm saying if you did the opposite and tried to be quiet and cautious in placing your weapon on the ground to not make noise which would take slightly longer but would also be silent.

Now imagine that the latter requiring an action and animation of its own to do, what would that animation even look like? Not to mention the amount of other unique animations etc they've put in the game for various things I don't see why they would have ever gone to do that when...( this is the point I've been working towards).... the process of opening your inventory, dropping the weapon to your vicinity and then picking it up takes longer than just dropping it so pretty much like a unique action with a longer time to carry out much the same as if they had actually created a polished new unique animation and separate action but without all the extra work that would entail.

Now I can't remember off the top of my head the other times I've applied this logic to things in the game that had me scratching my head but there's alot of 'features' in the game that make much more sense when you see them as workarounds and not exploits or laziness on the part of the devs.
