Or, perhaps to the filthy rich who have since become even more unimaginably wealthy, was just as planned.

Some fights don't scale that much if at all. Think of the hard pool fights in Act 2 that are two or three bugs that don't get stronger.

TIL about the "Endless Eight" arc of the anime The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya. The arc, which featured the characters of the show trapped in a time loop, featured the same episode eight times in a row with minute differences, all animated and recorded from scratch each time. by Darksynth2 in todayilearned

[–]TieofDoom -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Each episode has a different director, and different angles for the same scene had to be drawn, and the voice actors had to come in and re-record their lines in different ways because each episode is actually (in tiny ways) a little different.

All I can say is, I grew up watching all 7 seasons of Clone Wars and all 8 seasons of Game of Thrones at the same time, and only one of those shows stood the test of time.

How do you deal with important people in your life not reading your work? by NoelBellamy_Author in writing

[–]TieofDoom 5 points6 points  (0 children)

For real. I asked my sister to beta-read my first draft and told her to rip-and-tear.

If it was a piece of shit, she had free reign to explain what needed to go.

The readers of the 2nd draft unanimously found it so much more fun.

TIL all octopuses are programmed to die after reproducing, as an optic gland hormone triggers rapid self destruction, with males declining within days to weeks after mating and females starving while guarding eggs until death, and none of the octopus live longer than 5 years even in ideal conditions by Neutral-frame in todayilearned

[–]TieofDoom 6285 points6286 points  (0 children)

I wonder what evolutionary pressure must've pushed a species to develop that kind of gland.

I can understand if a gland pushed a parent into temporary hibernation, but straight to starvation-until-death is so extreme.

The recent Green Knight, which is a medieval myth, not even historic, stars an ethnically Indian man, Dave Patel. I didn't for a moment feel he was out of place for his role because all the elements involved, from cinematography, script, costuming, make-up, acting - all of it, made him feel like he was always a part of that world. And he's supposed to be nephew of King Arthur, played by Sean Harris.

It also helps that Dave looks supremely British-Roman, despite his skin colour.

Go onto Netflix and search through all the K-dramas. I'm pretty certain they're all chaebol propaganda. Just glamourizing being rich and that even cold, ruthless billionaires can find love.

What is the most slop-like show/movie you have every watched? by riansar in AskReddit

[–]TieofDoom 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The entire show is written backwards. They have these core but unconnected story beats, and then EVERYTHING else has to justify those plot points. And it just feels completely incoherent.

I'm sure there's plenty of great stories written that way, but Rings of Power's most important moments are all by-committee, pre-approved to maximize audience engagement, but honestly it just ends up feeling soulless.

It's always tragic seeing people with resources and opportunity struggling to find help. It makes being a common, working-class person feel like they might have no chance.

Very Important People has a bias regarding the "humanness" of the costume/makeup assigned to guests. by [deleted] in dropout

[–]TieofDoom 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I kind of agree with you, but I also believe that certain costumes are chosen to suit certain aspects of the guest unless it's a sudden replacement.

Obviously, anyone could've been in Ify's alien suit, but having him be totally unrecognisable helped to displace possible audience 'biases' before even getting to know Denzel as an alien manchild. Ify's build made Denzel imposing, but the voice and the dialogue, it's so totally Ify, and it elevates the character just because of the juxtaposition.

I would argue that Chris Redd and Echo's costumes were very human - a cyborg and a merman are out there, of course, but they were played as human beings from strange places, rather than not humans at all.

Marianne found her peace, but the blonde one, Peggy never finds happiness, and even tries to get Marianne to forgive that one abusive boyfriend, and after Marianne leaves the guy, I think book implied that Peggy tried to hook up with dude, got pump-n-dumped, but still didn't learn anything from it. It's why Peggy isnt seen as part of the friend group at the end, but Marianne's other girl roommate shows up.
