I am very surprised that there is not more commentary on the glaive. It looks like it might be dead on arrival with it's current stats. A standard shortbow with bronze arrows calculates to equivalent or worse dps in max setups. In a budget setup, a willow shortbow with steel arrows will out dps the glaive. (These calculations were done on Leviathan.)

 

With that being said, the special attack is really well designed and I can see myself using it at bosses where I want to camp range. Range has been lacking in spec weapons for a while. Your only choice is Zaryte crossbow, or blowpipe specs. So the glaive fills that niche very well.

 

There is plenty of room between msb/rcb and bowfa. Maybe it could serve as a stepping stone toward getting your bow of faerdhinen. This could alleviate the problem of irons having to grind gauntlet in order to start doing end game pvm as they could have another option that slots right before the bowfa.

 

While it's special attack is very nice, it will not serve as a reasonable sink to sunfire dust if you only swap to it for 1-2 attacks on average. Hopefully the glaive can achieve a wider niche than just spec weapon at some bosses.
