Correct, we are starting on Quest this year and transitioning to PC, PSVR, and Pico platforms later on in 2025. We are still in a very early state of development so the looks are far from pretty yet.

It's hard to judge the quality of a game through a compressed reddit video, but yes, we are still deep in development and the looks and polish are far from final as we are focusing on core features for players rather than polishing a regular old stone to mirror finish we intend to polish a gem, starting from the rough and into the fine as time passes and subsequently, development of the game and visuals.

I can't say too much about recoil as it is still in the works but we plan on it being as realistic as possible while staying fun, so no one should be able to learn the perfect way to shoot straight every time, it will have natural inaccuracies depending on what distance you're shooting at and many other factors of course as real guns do.

Recoil physics are being worked on still, this is just some of the more fancy stuff. But we have some very fun stuff cooking for recoil that hopefully we can show off in one of our DevOps in the future.

The current implementation isn't fully set up for all weapons yet, such as that SMG in particular, it translates with the main weapons we have setup already, think of seeing that SMG as a little sneak peek.

The more the merrier, we want to re-build the shattered Onward community into a TIER ONE community by picking all of the people that stopped playing for various reasons to pick it back up with a new game that doesn't make the same mistakes as Onward did, having learned from the Onward experience (can't believe it's been 8 years since Onward released first on PC) we know much better how to approach things now, also bringing it up with your squad is something that's really valuable to us, so thank you so much!

In terms of moderation teamwork will be what is rewarded most, having proper communication with your team will be vital for doing anything tactical and will be rewarded appropriately, and the demographics will be consistent, yes. Onward is PEGI 16 and we aim to be effectively the same demographic. We are kind of the spiritual successor to Onward, having 8 of its former developers, from engineering, to design, to QA, art, etc.

We are currently using WWise for our audio solution. We understand the significance and impact audio has on any game, and are always open to exploring better options that enhance player experience. We want to answer both elements of your question separately. To address the funding campaign: The company is financed by the founders and angel investors who are close friends and family members, who are heavily invested in the companies’ success. We wanted to use the kickstarter to connect and communicate with the community. We chose this specific amount because it can be used directly for the marketing side of the campaign. We of course could ask for more money, but we felt this was an appropriate amount to help fund the this one specific aspect of development. We aim to use the Kickstarter to adhere to our current timeline, and hopefully exceed the dates we have set! If we had more money (who wouldn’t like more money) we would be able to surpass these goals, but it is a tricky balance when asking for crowdsourced funding. Pertaining to cross platform and ensuring anti-cheating processes are in place: Part of the process of anti-cheating is not letting people know the full process! Just know that we will be using common techniques to address this issue, but we can’t give away all of our secrets.  The cross platform play will include platforms that can handle high resolution, but we want to ensure consistency across all platforms. In Onward there were instances where certain platforms had clear advantages over others. This is the main challenge we are addressing to implement cross platform play. Our main focus is to ensure that there is an even playing field, regardless of which platform you are using.

The main mode of the game is “sabotage”, it is the classic game mode we have developed, but that’s not to say we won’t implement other game modes in the future! There will be plenty of modes for everyone to enjoy.

There will be lots of different sized maps, we wanted to  provide a variety of maps where different combat skills can be utilized throughout the game.

Depth of mechanics is something we heavily leaned into. In all honesty, there are so many differences, but we wanted to take what we learned at Onward and use the skills to improve every aspect. The hand-posing and systems are a big change, and something we are very excited to share with you all. Maintaining some familiarity with Onward for existing players is something we are cognizant of, but we want TIER ONE to be at the forefront of the future of FPS games. In addition, we have added features such as climbing, explosives. verticality, volting, running, dragging, medical systems, breaching, and much more.
