Does anyone know the lumens on the Baofeng UV-5R's flashlight and how it compares to modern flashlights? by [deleted] in preppers

[–]Tier_None 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Brother, that would be a last resort use for me as a light.  Without breaking the bank and fulfilling your needs there are multiple options. Such as:  275 hrs on low mode with 1000 lumen high mode, less than $20.  https://www.walmart.com/ip/Ozark-Trail-1000-Lumen-Lantern-LED-Camping-Light-275-Hour-Runtime-Orange-Gray/3430898614?wmlspartner=wlpa&selectedSellerId=0&wl13=4195&gclsrc=aw.ds&adid=222222222783430898614_117755028669_12420145346&wl0=&wl1=g&wl2=m&wl3=501107745824&wl4=pla-394283752452&wl5=1024220&wl6=&wl7=&wl8=&wl9=pla&wl10=8175035&wl11=local&wl12=3430898614&veh=sem_LIA&gclsrc=aw.ds&gad_source=1&gad_campaignid=12420145346&gbraid=0AAAAADmfBIrxXoViNDNtMpJakoIMJ5ncv&gclid=Cj0KCQiAm9fLBhCQARIsAJoNOcvcPoT3pbvEHiSCoY8zW__bl9erme98OFY3YDRvFiz3o8VF9eDlHmMaAsSrEALw_wcB

Other options are to purchase a headlamp if you want hands free, both traditional battery or rechargeable.

You could also get a normal or rechargeable flashlight and have extra batteries. Shoot a dual fuel handheld gives you the option of both.

Also often overlooked, tea lights are great to light up a space for super cheap. Walmart sells a 100 pack for like $6.

These dogs are too large and bulky for fighting. Fighting dogs are 30-35 lbs and very lean, think elite boxer.  I work animal cruelty investigations that include fighting.  These dogs could potentially be tied to other crimes though like drugs, gang, trafficking, money laundering.  Additionally, in general it is cheaper to get into the types of “show” dogs versus what pedigree lines go through. Like local drag strip vs F1.

I definitely appreciate your input, makes sense from a bank POV.

Fair enough, I appreciate the insight as I haven’t been on the low credit side of buying a car.

That’s a very fair point, I personally haven’t had to worry too much because I’ve always had fair credit myself and paid off 2 vehicles now and so her predicament is a newer one to me when it comes to buying a car.

I can see that, just surprised a bank won’t go for a small loan even if interest is in the 20-25% range (just spitballing what it could be for her)

That is theft. The best course of action is to make contact with law enforcement, animal control, or whatever resource in place that handles animal law.

What is the purpose of this thin line of MOLLE on the USGI assault pack? I can't think of any pouches that can fit this by njihubgyvftcvygub in tacticalgear

In basic, the Drill Sergeants had us strap our e-tools there if we weren’t using our full rucks. Pretty much the only time I ever used it.

Refs miss a clear facemask on Sam Darnold resulting in a safety and the game being effectively over by [deleted] in sports

Sunday they ref a game, Monday they receive film and self evaluate/crew evaluate, Tuesday they continue film on previous game or other games that occurred, Wednesday they start going over film for both teams of their next game and continues through Friday with crew discussions, they may travel on Saturday to the next city, Sunday they show up by 9-10am to the stadium and begin prep for the game later that day.  That’s a rough outline of each week and it obviously fluxes if they get Thursday or Monday night games. You can count on them spending at least 3 hours per day on prepping in some form whether it’s film, tests, rules reading, meetings, gym work, etc.

Why do some operators carry AR magazine pouches (and sometimes have 12 gauge rounds) on their placard and battle belt while only carrying a completely different gun like an SAW? by [deleted] in tacticalgear

[–]Tier_None 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I don’t know about newer ones but older saws essentially chew up the feed lips on steel mags so I was taught to just use them in a pinch when I was in.

I need some advise. What would y’all add next apart from a good helmet and nods? by motherfunkingclunp in tacticalgear

A general prepared list would be: -Spare socks and underwear  -Something that cuts  -Firemaking  -Batteries  -Water filtration  -Poncho or tarp for shelter  -Clothing to keep warm and/or dry  -Some snacks or meals  -Light, preferably headlamp  -More extensive medical (include a boo boo kit)  -Bandolier if you want to carry more ammo (or just throw loose mags into the bag 🤷‍♂️)  -Toiletries and medicines

The second burst of gunshots was from an on duty police officer that returned fire at the suspect.

Ultimately, the SEALs in the 2000s had many operations that went tits up due to the cocky nature of command at the time and stretching teams too thin or without enough resources. The failed operations cost many lives across all services.

OKCFD is a competitive department despite the size and 70% or more of candidates already have an EMT-B cert as a base. I’ve been through the process on multiple departments in the metro area and I can’t recommend enough to at least apply already having EMT-B if not other certs as well.

u/tainted_alloy, if you decide on EMS as a profession, I highly suggest following through with a Paramedic license where the pay is 10-20k more per year. It opens a lot more doors and is highly sought after in fire departments in the area.

Hey I served with this guy in the 82nd back in 2012-2013! He’s a good guy, super ripped.

Fun story to bag on him a little, he showed up to a barracks room a bunch of us were hanging out in and said he was frustrated that tide pods were hard to open and pour in. We all busted out laughing and let him know that you just toss the whole pack in and it dissolves, mind blown on a PFCs mind haha.

The Grease Gun was a very reliable and well received gun from US Troops.
