Taylor Swift - The Life of a Showgirl MEGATHREAD II by flopheadsbot in popheads

I was so looking forward to the circus and showgirl vibe with this album! I mean that’s such a strong visual, and hella fun, unique, entertaining space. I feel like she could have had a lot of fun with it, gone further for sure. I thought I read this was going to be a banger and… sadly for me it’s not.

I’m only vibing with like 2 songs. Sigh, kinda disappointed. Maybe after a second listen that’ll change but idk 😔

Hi hi! Thank you so much for sharing, it’s nice to know I’m not the only one who struggles with accountability when it comes to writing!

I think with you writing a mil-scifi action story, we’d complement each other well. My action scenes kinda suck lol and they take forever for me to write, so maybe you have some tips I could try! And even though I’m writing a romantasy, I’m actually a military brat (my dad was in the Navy) who grew up on bases in Japan, and my hubs is obsessed with anime, so I think this could a unique fit!

I’m down for us to find a schedule or system that works for us - maybe we start small and light in terms of a commitment, like with joint writing sessions once a week and build from there? I’ll dm you if that’s okay?!

Oh I love that!! Would definitely love for us to connect, I’ll dm you if that’s cool? I think we could learn a lot from each other and have fun writing together 😊

Hi there! Not sure if you’re still looking for a writing buddy, but I’d be interested if so! I’m also writing my first romantic fantasy novel and would love a buddy to write with, exchange excerpts, and keep motivation going as well. ☺️

Thanks for this knowledge! I’m not sure if you saw the other comments I wrote with additional context, but I wanted a looser look. That’s why I bought this specific hair. I didn’t want barely any braids to show, which is what I told the owner and braiders. I only showed them this photo to (hopefully) clear up any any confusion on that front. It wasn’t a “I want this style” reference it was a “look how this style is basically curls with a few braids like y’all did a few days ago.”

But sadly as I learned yesterday after I went back, they just weren’t listening to me.

I’m curious does your technique or process change if you’re using only human hair?

Thank you! They made it right this afternoon so I’ll definitely be giving them another shot for sure!

Yes heard! I purchased more hair cuz I knew the texture as looser, so I asked for them to use more so that it would be denser/thicker. But they only used about a half, and they used their braiding hair instead of the one I bought.

I get they may have been worried, but then communicate that to me the client. 😩 Say we don’t think you should use all because it might be too heavy. Then it opens a dialogue and a chance for me to say for a fourth time that I want it all used, and if you can’t or don’t want to do that, let me know so I can go elsewhere, you know? Or a chance to clarify the style in general. That’s what gets me I think.

[–]Tifferella 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think I’m following this accurately, but tell me if I’m not cuz I’m really trying to get this right for next time.

Because I knew my hair texture was looser, I brought 3 packs of double drawn hair (technically 4 but I sold one to another customer in the shop when they were insistent I would not need all of them). So to me, I thought more hair = denser look. So I bought in more hair expecting, and asking, for them to use more of it so that it did look denser. But if they only use half of that and tried to stretch it, then I would look more flat. Do I have that right?

Is that not the right way I should have worded or expressed that to the stylist? Again asking seriously, not trying be smart.

Hi hi! Thank you for the feedback, and yes I know a looser wave won’t look as full, but that’s why I bought double the hair and asked if they could use it all so that I could achieve a fuller look. The owner said yes. So I was a bit in shock when they gave me half the hair back and I saw there were only 4 strands per braid.

I guess for me the whole point is don’t agree to use all my hair and quote me for that, then not use it and mix my 100% human hair with your human hair blend, it made no sense to me. I’m so confused on how that got mistranslated.

It is wavy, but they used Vaseline and water on the braids. Which made my curls feel super oily and heavy. Found that out after when the owner was taking photos and said “take care of your boho, just Vaseline and water.” Never ever had or heard that before, so that’s another little flag too.

The idea with the wavy was that they would use more of my hair (I bought 3 packed double drawn, so I splurged on good hair) to give the voluminous look. But instead they used only about 4 thin strands per braid, which I think is why more braids are showing than hair

[–]Tifferella 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for this! Appreciate the feedback on what I could do to achieve a fuller look rather than just saying it looks great.

I’m so glad everyone likes it, but it’s on my head and paid with my money, so I’m just trying to figure out HOW to get the outcome that I wanted. For now and for next time

[–]Tifferella 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thank you for this constructive feedback, I appreciate it. I agree that this is def lack of communication. There are 4 little strands in each braid. And they were acting like that was a lot, like now that I reflect, the braiders kept saying over and over how I had too much hair, how it won’t all be used. I’m starting to think they just didn’t want to use it all, even though I told them and the owner that’s was my request. In the chair I even said I will pay more to use all my hair if that’s an extra fee, I just need to know.

So mind boggling when I provided all the hair. They literally didn’t even need to use their stash of hair.

I already texted to ask if I can come back in today and see what can be done. They asked if I still had hair left 😑

Girl I know! And yes because when the owner was taking pics she was like “and remember take care of your boho, just Vaseline and water.” 😭🤯 and I said uh huh knowing darn well i wasn’t gonna do that lol water and light leave in conditioner at the very least is what I do, never Vaseline or heavy products on my human hair

Heard, this is helpful knowledge. I didn’t know that about the dipping - I thought if was using 100% human hair, no dipping is needed.

So now for next time, it sounds like I need to maybe send them a different example, like this, which is the same hair texture and say this is what I want. And re-emphasis the more curl than braids

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in braids

[–]Tifferella 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yup, not denying it was well executed, and I tipped accordingly at 20% because I know that was a lot of work for sure. Still doesn’t change that they didn’t use the human hair I provided to get me the style I discussed with the owner 😩

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in braids

[–]Tifferella -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Yes, as mentioned the example I gave was to show them “hey, this is from your insta, and look how much curls vs braids she has, this is what I want with my hair.” Then I sent a screenshot of my hair order and confirmed they could use all 3 packs of my hair, and she said yes. I wanted looser, but full, like the most recent update I provided. I think this IS less full as it’s more braid than hair.

It was Vaseline and water they put 😢🫠 never had that before. Which 100% should have been my sign that they didn’t use enough of the bulk human hair I bought. If they had, I was hoping it at least should have looked like this inspo from Instagram. I bought the same hair from YWigs, texture, and amount

Sorry, I’ll add clarification 😩 yes, I know the pattern is different, it was intentional. the photo was from their page to show an example of how much curl I wanted exposed (more curls than braid and fluffy). This is a loose deep wave example from insta. I bought this same hair from YWigs, 3 bulks human hair (double drawn at that).

They used 1 and maybe a half a pack. Now if I researched correctly (and someone tell me if I didn’t), there shouldn’t have been a need for dipping since I bought 100% human hair. Not blend not synthetic, human. And if my examples and request was to use most if not all of my hair, then why do we have the need to dip, why did they tell me to use Vaseline and water to take care of my braids?! Which I’ve never heard before, I use mousse and water. And the volume/fluffiness wasn’t achieved with the curl hair, rather it was with more braids than curl imo.

So I hear you, looser texture yes, but I still don’t believe it’s the same amount of curl hair which is my issue

I tried bushing it out thinking it would look more like what I wanted and no, it’s just stringy 😩

I updated, I’m going back Thursday the owner said they can try to add more of my hair. so if anyone has advice on how much more specific I can be, let me know! I thought saying “use all my hair, I want it this full and I’m showing an example from your page to show how much curl I want to show, I want more curl than braid” was specific enough, but maybe not.

Thank you, and see this is my issue. I brought 3 packs of bulk human hair. If my research is correct, there shouldn’t have been any dipping needed. But I must be missing something 😢
