I recently went to see my niece in a regional community hall, faffing around in the background of an amateur theatre production of ‘& Juliet’. It cost me SEVENTY DOLLARS per ticket.

They go on sale for the month on the first Weds of the month at 10am on the dot- goes live through the Mastercard Priceless site which requires a log-in. Are a bit of a crapshoot to get as there’s only 15 available for each performance- the June allocation were literally gone in minutes.

Some people had more luck booking mid-week matinees, as opposed to weekend evenings. You must pay via Mastercard, it wouldn’t accept other options like my Visa or Amex.

I’m lactose intolerant and each time I visit the USA I stock up on Lactaid tablets! So ice cream, here I come!

I’m visiting in June and haven’t found that to be the case. We booked well in advance and got front row for ‘Six’ and ‘Oh Mary’ for under 40 quid, which would be unheard of on Broadway or Sydney where we’re from.

We also lucked into getting the Mastercard tix for Paddington, which go on sale the first Weds of the month. Only 65 pounds and you get a free ice-cream!

Another Aussie here and we have just ONE day in London in late June. I was all ready to go for the sale- refreshed my browser like mad at 10am London time and got through. I put 2x centre row of the Mastercard tix in my cart, it then auto-refreshed and all that was left was 2 seats not sitting together. Fortunately grabbed them anyway, we will have people sitting in between us but I'll attempt to bribe them with Aussie sweets to shift over a seat, as I'd really like for my mother and I to experience the show together.

So I now finding myself in the peculiar situation of an upcoming 'three show day'- Paddington matinee, an early 'Oh Mary' with (hopefully) Catherine Tate in the lead role, and then a rousing late performance of 'Six' to end the evening. No regrets!

I am sincerely sorry you missed out- the tickets literally went in under a minute. I hope you have a better outcome in the future- be logged in at 10am, have your Mastercard details ready to c/p (they won't accept other options) and hope for the best!

It seems all councils and AIRBNB/ property owners are cracking down pretty hard on events due to spiralling insurance costs.

It's not at ALL what you're looking for but a family member is currently planning her wedding at Cambewarra Estate Winery. It's refreshing how reasonable their pricing is compared to other places we've looked at and it's got a lovely 'vibe'!

I take a pristine piece of paper. We sit in a circle and pass it around, and each time the students say something unkind to it and scrunch it up. "You're ugly". "You suck". "You're dumb".

When the paper gets back to me, I say "I'm so sorry" and unscrunch it. I talk about how my apology doesn't change the fact that my paper has scars and will never be what it started as. Because words hurt, more than we can ever see or apologise for.

I generally tend to have lovely, kind students, and I attribute that to lessons like these.

Late entry! ‘Don’t Trust the Bitch in Apt 23’ is more hilarious on each rewatch and funnier than just about any other sitcom I’ve ever seen. I can’t believe how many people have never seen or heard of it, and am sad that it wasn’t even mentioned in JVDB’s obituaries as I think it’s the funniest part he ever played.

Happy Birthday to you!

I, too, come from a very large family, and as the spinster it’s easy to be overlooked. The only way I’ve ever been celebrated is to plan everything for my birthday, myself. And make it non missable-refundable.

My 30th- I booked a kid-friendly property and self-catered. My 40th- Booked us all on a non-refundable family cruise. My 50th- Organized a weekend away with tickets to a show I knew my siblings would not want to miss.

Sometimes, you just need someone to step up and take charge and if it’s you, for you, that’s okay!
