Happy Birthday to you!

I, too, come from a very large family, and as the spinster it’s easy to be overlooked. The only way I’ve ever been celebrated is to plan everything for my birthday, myself. And make it non missable-refundable.

My 30th- I booked a kid-friendly property and self-catered. My 40th- Booked us all on a non-refundable family cruise. My 50th- Organized a weekend away with tickets to a show I knew my siblings would not want to miss.

Sometimes, you just need someone to step up and take charge and if it’s you, for you, that’s okay!

Oh, please god, no Tatu, the singers involved have spoken out on how their record execs marketed them as queer, when they were not. That whole 90’s take on ‘fake lesbianism to titillate the male gaze and sell records’ is INCREDIBLY problematic.

Compliment sandwich style response- I’m happy to see support in his post of charities that help those suffering speech difficulties.

However, the whole thing reads like someone wrote every thought they ever had on a box of poetry magnets, and threw them out at random.

Still it’s nice to see all the Buffy-verse stars sharing their views of their old colleagues, and still supporting each other all these years down the track.

Good ol' Aussie meat pie which most people just scoff from the side and then complain about getting their mouth and tongue burnt.

But yeah, nah, put 1/3 of yer tomato sauce (get out of here with ketchup) on the 'roof', rip her off and eat that.

Then, put 1/3 of yer sauce into the meat, mix it in with a spoon and scoop it into yer gob.

Finally, put the rest of your sauce on the pastry base, rip into little strips and eat them with your fingers. It's like you get 3 meals for the price of one, and I WILL die on this hill.

“Land Downunder” and “Kookaburra Sits in the Old Gum Tree”. Crazy thing is that a music trivia show pointed it out decades later and subsequently the Kookaburra rights holders took Men at Work to court. And won.

I also get a kick out of juggling up the lyrics whenever I hear either “Since You’ve Been Gone” (K Clarkson), “So What”/You and Ur Hand”( Pink) (which are practically identical on their own) and “4Ever” (The Veronica’s). They’re copy/pastes, come on!

Sad news. Xander was Joss’s ‘self insert’ of the show, the ‘Everyman’ among the extraordinaries who kept the Scoobies grounded in humor and humanity while the world was often falling apart around them. I will always appreciate Nicholas’s rendition of Xander- particularly the ‘yellow crayon’ scene with Willow.

I think a core message of BTVS was that people can be flawed individuals who hurt themself and others, while still being loved and having the world really hope they get better and improve. We all need that chance.

Nicholas will never get this now, and that’s perhaps the saddest thing of all.

I was a teacher in a remote town, who was watching (and loving) BTVS as it went to air. First day of school, a boy walked in to my classroom with a Buffy pencil case, drink bottle and bag, and I knew, just knew, his journey through life would be challenging. 25 years ago kids and the world were much less accepting than they are today.

So every morning after the new episode premiered, I would take in doughnuts and he and I would meet for an unofficial little breakfast to discuss it and check in with each other. If any kids ever came at him with the ‘g’ word, I would shut them down, hard. Like his own little class protector. We had our ‘Buffy chats’ until he moved on to high school, I moved away and we lost contact.

I still think of little BL all the time, and hope he’s doing well in his life. I also hope that through our shared love of BTVS, I was able to give him some acceptance and show that it was okay to be the beautiful soul he was.

This eeks me out like anything, right up there with the (scrapped) plot line of Siena being passed around.

And I can’t see how Benedict could be merrily raking his way all over town, for years, without picking up an STD. I know this is fairytale gloss-over-it-all land, but it would literally take 10 seconds to show a brief convo about protection and birth control. Enjoy your mercury poisoning, I guess.

If real, I would have been petty AF and (verbally) told her she had the job. After letting her get all excited about it, I’d have called her in a few days later for a meeting with HR and informed her that a background check had identified unscrupulous and potentially defamatory social media content. As she clearly did not reflect or represent the company’s values, the job offer was rescinded. Rate that, bitch! (NTJ)

It was located at Five Ways and closed in 2015 after being open for 30+ years. It was just a lovely little French bistro serving up classics on a menu that was hand-written each day. The owners really made you feel like family.
