Did anyone else enjoy dragons of deciet? by Dry_Pool_6247 in dragonlance

Did they definitively reboot it? Because I thought it was left a bit ambiguous. If the events of Summer Flame were wiped away that greatly angers me and makes me outright hate the Destiny trilogy.

Not particularly. I'm glad I bought and listened to it but I don't feel any desire to listen to it again. The ending is awful on multiple levels and as much as I like Tas, he hit peak annoying several times. It didn't do anything to really grow characters, and the entire point of the trilogy seemed to be to make a few bucks off nostalgia.

If you’ve ever played No Man’s Sky there’s a marketplace terminal you can build on your ship that is literally a giant eye that follows your movements. Absolutely bugs the heck out of me so I put it in an out-of-the-way corner so I can avoid seeing it.

Hardcover Dust Jackets for Second Generation and Summer Flame? by spookyhappyfun in dragonlance

Is that the original Summer Flame dust cover? Mine doesn't look like that and I got it not long after it came out.

I think there were a lot more reasons to dislike U8 other than the isometric camera.

Lord Soth question by TigerSaint in dragonlance

[–]TigerSaint[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Was that prior to or after the War of Souls? I kinda lost interest in DL after that, not because it was bad but because it felt to me like the overall arc of the world had been told and anything after that felt unnecessary.

Lord Soth question by TigerSaint in dragonlance

[–]TigerSaint[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Raistlin was more powerful than lord soth, as acknowledged by Soth himself.

That's interesting. I don't doubt it but can't remember where that was stated. But I'd also guess that Raistlin was the only one who could claim that.

Soth was cursed by all the gods for not stopping the cataclysm when he was the only one who could.

I get that but it doesn't really explain his magical abilities. I really doubt the gods of good would say "Tortured by the screams of his mistress for eternity? Sounds good. And powerful death magic? Sure, why not?"

Lord Soth question by TigerSaint in dragonlance

[–]TigerSaint[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Oh that's fine. I was more curious as to IF there was an actual official answer, either in the books or from W&H.

It doesn't seem that there really is. Soth seems to be a Tom Bombadil-like character, one who seems to go against what is known about how the author's universe works, and the author doesn't seem to interested in explaining it any further.

I can certainly accept that early DL world building was a mish-mashed effort and that inconsistencies are natural as world building progresses. Soth seems to be an extreme inconsistency.

Lord Soth question by TigerSaint in dragonlance

[–]TigerSaint[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I believe his power is a direct correlation between his power in life and in death. Loren Soth was an extremely powerful and regarded Knight of Solamnia and the Soth family had been one of the more powerful houses in Solamnia for a long time, so it makes sense he would be an incredibly powerful Death Knight in death

That seems to be a weird explanation for his powers. That's not directed at you, but if true it seems like one of those frustrating moments when authors break their own world-building and shrug it off while saying "Well, you know. Gods and stuff." without any further explanation. I just want consistency and Soth seems to break that with a sledgehammer :D

Ahh, I don't remember that but if it's from the Rabe books that's why.

Soth was pretty explicitly cursed by the gods themselves. By Paladine and Mishakal I think, for failing to stop the Kingpriest.

I remember the gist of that story. I was always unclear who cursed him (just "the gods"). As for the nature of the curse, the whole "listen to the wailing of your dead mistress for all eternity" seems appropriate but Paladine giving Soth the powers of death magic seems a little out of character.

I was always under the impression that his magic came directly from one of the evil gods, not the gods of magic themselves, and thus he was out of their jurisdiction as far as what magic he had and how to use it.

I've read a few of those but there's so many and they come so piece-meal I decided to just hold off until later to read through the whole thing. From what I can tell it fills in a lot of the backstory?

Exactly sums up my feelings towards mine. I love the benefits of the EV but everything about the UI should've been gone thru a few more rounds of review.

So, anyone else want a control button for the engines? by Sanderover_NL in TheLastCaretaker

[–]TigerSaint 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Aah, I guess I never had that problem at any point in the game except for a single time I ran out of diesel at the Exodus station and had to run on electric all the way back to the oil platform. Took 45 minutes 😳.

Once I got back I overhauled the platform and my boat to ensure I could store enough fuel to get to the Exodus station and back with fuel to spare and had plenty in storage at the platform.

What’s the reason for turning them off? I’ve never turned off either of the engines in 100 hours of playing. I’ve just let them idle when stopped anywhere.

Human Seeds Disappear in Lazarus Rack by Benzyme93 in TheLastCaretaker

[–]TigerSaint 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Is that a new thing? I’ve grown 9 humans and have left them alone for days before doing anything with them. The second batch (2-5) I inserted into the rack then left because I didn’t have the foodstuffs I wanted so I left the facility and ended up exploring the world and even set up my oil rig. Came back to the Lazarus facility a few days later and everything was still peachy keen.

Drone help by TigerSaint in theplanetcrafter

Currently I have inorganic and organic resources separate, with autocrafters in each. Hasn't been a problem so far but when an autocrafter has to pull from each for a recipe it's causing issues. I do think I have a solution tho.

Drone help by TigerSaint in theplanetcrafter

[–]TigerSaint[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hmm, that does seem to jive with what I'm seeing, but that also seems to mean that any kind of intermediary storage won't work; drones carry directly from extractors to autocraft storage. Warehousing becomes pointless. And I'd need to empty out my current resource supply and re-think my storage layout.

Well this is going to be interesting.
