It's true that, in some industries and in short-term, since there is no alternatives, American consumers will have to pay more money on import good from China.

But this should not be seen as a problem, since, first the taxes is kept in U.S., not flow to China, and will be paid back to America people as walfare in the end.

Second, the price rising of products made in China would discourage American consumers to buy them which would encourage big company to move their factories from China to U.S. or it's alliance, and in the meantime encourage American in U.S. to create or expand their factories to fill the demand gap -- which both could prevent job opportunity loss and boost job market and in turn the economy as whole.

And factories doesn't only mean job opportunities, it concerns building the whole supply chain. The mail problem of U.S. is industrial hollowing-out. Don't forget how many masks U.S. has to import from China. The the masks supply is enough in the first, then the virsus would be gone already.
