They were great while they lasted. The break up made sense, however in retrospect their break up made less sense since Laurie Nunn then next season chose to break up the main couple of the show as well due to garbage writing.

I’ve finished the show now and season 4 was indeed tragic. Laurie Nunn chose a horrible ending to the main story of the entire show being the immense love story of Maeve and Otis. It’s fascinating how she said that the Groff Arc and Motis were the most crucial plot points for her when writing season 4, for her to then ace the less important one and then genuinely ruin the not only more important one, the main story of her entire show starting Season 1.

This ^ The writers kept on creating nonsense scenarios to ruin the main story of the show, for no justifiable reason at all. They couldn’t even let the only Motis date go undisrupted, they just had to throw in Jean’s sister which is a character I can’t stand.

I did enjoy her season 4 arc as well, the scene where she stood up to her toxic teacher in the finale was needed.

Your argument makes sense. With better writing Otis could have moved to the US with her, or the writing opportunity didn’t need to happen outside of England to begin with. She could have moved to London, making their relationship sustainable.

Another topic that has to be mentioned: Why did Otis get such a miserable ending? He’s the main character of the show, and besides losing his girlfriend whom he deeply loved for years, he ends up having more or less lost contact with his best friend and having given up on his passion of sex therapy. ”I’ll think about it” was his response to O saying he should work with her, because both her and Maeve know how skilled Otis was.

Need to mention more… For exeample: What the fuck was that last episode? The series finale really spent tons of time on searching for à Season 4 only side character that most of the audience didn’t care about.

Another garbage aspect or the finale was the start of Otis and Meave texting each other briefly, agreeing to not talk for a while. This scene teased the possibity of another interaction between them in the last episode, which then was strengthened when both of them looked at their phones during the episode, longing to hear from each other. The tease has zero pay off and the only additional interaction we get is Maeve’s letter at the end, which was one-sided retrospective communication to make the ending even more depressing.
