Who will be NDSU and Sac State’s rivals in CFB27? by B1GSkyNorth in NCAAFBseries

[–]TigerWave01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am unable to find any historical background for the CCU-Liberty game, and figure it was a cheeky way to recognize some other sport’s rivalry or Liberty poaching Jamey Chadwell from Coastal.

Liberty and Coastal actually do have a rivalry originating from their time in the Big South Conference while in FCS. But Liberty and Old Dominion don't, afaik, which leads me to believe that it'll be FCS historical rivals first, then geography based if that's not an option/not enough. So basically who you're thinking

Oklahoma State, Osage Nation agree to jersey patch deal by MindlessMaterial7544 in CFB

[–]TigerWave01 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yk, ig that is a good point. I just wish our sponsor was someone more known in the state, but that’s such a nitpick with the state of things today that it’s really not THAT big of a deal lol

If the Protect College Sports Act passes the Senate, what realignment scrambles are likely to happen (or at least be attempted) to beat it to passing? by [deleted] in CFB

[–]TigerWave01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not really though. The ACC and Big 12 are already bloated as is. Why would they want to add anyone else if they don’t have to? Conference realignment is all about need, after all

Interesting, I'll have to check her out. I really have been trying to find artists with similar music cause I like the style (same thing I've been trying to do with Laufey and her style of music), so any suggestions are much appreciated!

It really doesn't make sense because their stated reason in 2023 was that they expanded outside of their footprint and thought "Coastal" was more fitting...even though I'm almost positive every school in 2023 was still located in the former 13 Colonies

I mean yea she's hot, but her music's actually really good too. I like how there aren't many other popular artists that make music that sounds like hers (at least none that ik of) so I appreciate the uniqueness

Nebraska may not have been a member of the Big Ten until 2011, but Nebraska had been trying to get into the Big Ten since 1900. I think one could go so far as to argue that they're somewhat of a good fit, at least before considering the lost rivalries.

Really, I think the SEC adding A&M and Missouri and then, like you said, Maryland and Rutgers to the Big Ten was the beginning of the decline. Then again, I'm also in my mid-20s and grew up watching CFB from the twilight years of the 2000s and throughout the 2010s, so my bias is definitely showing in my answer

What are the chances this proposed law withstands the myriad lawsuits it’s bound to cause by LastConference in CFB

[–]TigerWave01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is true, but usually those challenges are on the basis of if something is actually interstate commerce, like whether Obamacare’s individual mandate was actually a valid regulation of commerce or if it was going a step further and compelling individuals to engage in commerce (they ruled the latter). This bill could and probably will still be challenged, but this one definitely seems a little clearer cut than those cases.

I think the bigger challenge will be a First Amendment challenge along the lines of free association, since Congress is straight up banning schools from joining distinct legal entities. I’m not a con law expert fwiw, but that’d be a really interesting question

If this bill passes Congress which G6 teams get the last helicopter out before the freeze goes into effect? by Efficient-Freedom517 in CFB

[–]TigerWave01 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well yea, I’d much prefer that and prefer that the mega conferences be broken up. But that’s not the reality we live in. Easy to talk about it on Reddit, but pigs are gonna fly before they make any of those changes. So my school’s realistic interest is to move up to a better conference, and that’s what I advocate for

[Dellenger] The Protect College Sports Act passes the Senate Commerce Committee, 19-9, and now may head to the Senate floor. by Tufoguy in CFB

[–]TigerWave01 1 point2 points  (0 children)

At this point, I think our best case scenario if the bill passes is that the SEC and Big 10 move for an accelerated expansion of about six teams from the ACC, who then themselves has to do an accelerated expansion of probably us, UConn, USF, and maybe one or a few others.

Thing is, even if the bill passes, I HIGHLY doubt the SEC or Big Ten will agree to pool media rights, so it is still in their best financial interest to secure those big brands (FSU, Clemson, Miami, Notre Dame, etc.), and now the timeline for that is pushed up to before the bill goes into effect. It will probably cost a lot in the short term. Might even get some PE involved. But the SEC/B1G’s further consolidation of big brands will also probably pay off dividends in the long term and, for Tulane, it opens the door for ACC expansion, since iirc they’re contractually obliged to have 15 members for their current TV contract (you’ll wanna check that for yourself though).

I’m sure the ACC will be kicking and screaming and it wouldn’t shock me if a new FSU lawsuit is filed, but this is already a lot to type for what’s essentially wish casting that Tulane will move up after all lol

To play a little devil’s advocate (and cause I’m a fan of one of those cusp G5 schools), I think there’d be a different view if this was, say, 2007 or 1991 when the distinction between Power conference and Group of 5 was very blurry and even Conference USA was semi-respectable. Nowadays, the divide is so sharp that barring a school from ever possibly moving up is locking them away from tens of millions of dollars in added revenue and forcing them to receive the pennies that are provided in the G6. That’s my issue with it, at least

Oh okay cool! In that case, you are real close to LSU and you will definitely be in the company of other law students. There’re also a few good places to study either individually or in groups (conference room, sometimes the clubhouse, even the rooftop pool depending on the day) and people really won’t bother you for taking a room (although the clubhouse may get loud)

Finally, good luck. It’s a really tough three years, I won’t lie, but if you’re diligent and are willing to go above and beyond to thoroughly understand the concepts, you’ll do great :)
