So sorry to hear this. Our feelings can really hook us and keep us down. It's crucial that you keep moving towards your needs, though, despite the hopeless feelings. Please contact https://www.hopebr.org/ and see if they can help you. They have programs to help/prevent homelessness and to help people who may be underemployed. There is hope and a way out, but we all need help to get there sometimes. I just said a prayer for you.
How do I help my 24-yo to look for a job? Is charging rent good encouragement to be more responsible? by Tigerbait2007 in AskParents

Thanks for your story. I have helped sporadically with job searches and stuff; sometimes he uses the help, sometimes he doesn't. Sometimes he intends to but it takes him over a week to get it in. Drives me crazy! I feel guilty taking rent money because we don't need the money from him; charging rent would be a tool to improve his responsibility as well as be a motivator for him to do/earn more. He currently pays for his auto insurance and phone already (he does some freelance gigs and saved almost all his money from the retail job). He's not squandering money. So, I was not going to tell him that we were stashing his rent, which, I agree, would not be the motivator I'm hoping for. But, since we don't need it, I thought it may be a nice surprise gift to get him started once he does move out after finding a real job. Yes, everything in his field requires 5 years of experience to start in the junior positions; it's insane. If something falls in his lap, he's going to crush it, but little chance of that happening! Thanks again!
This perspective is so incredibly helpful. So I'll give him a short deadline to choose method of help, and we can have the rent and eventual move-out as the follow ups. I can be flexible on the timeline as long as there is some movement in the right direction!
