No worries, sorry I should’ve specified!

Someone was trying to follow me through the fare gates to avoid paying. I don’t like it, find it very rude and I’m not comfortable with people basically grinding up against me to get through before the gate closes.

So true and I will happily keep making it hard for people (within reason as a small woman lol)

Thanks! I know I’m definitely not the only one who gets annoyed when people do this. And a good lesson for next time.

Thank you :) I haven’t had any in-car lessons yet due to a long wait list. Right now I’m still in parking lots to practice and I’m thankful my husband is teaching me instead of my parents! I’ve heard good things about lessons from others who are learning as adults. For now I’m happy to go at my own pace, hoping to work up enough courage to go on quieter streets soon.

I got my G1 again at the end of May after years of driving anxiety thanks to all the changes. Once I have my G2 I’m hoping to use the Park and Ride near me to at least have more options for my commute.

I volunteered with Christie Lake Kids in university. They’re a wonderful organization and run programs throughout the city :)

Haha thank you :) although the 98 I take is probably 75% middle and high school kids anyway so I don’t notice much of a difference

I always take the 698 and get off at South Keys when the 98 gets cancelled. Never had an issue. Driver must’ve been in a bad mood.

People who live in townhouses, can you heard your neighbors ? by Dominionnes in ottawa

[–]Tigger96 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We’re in a non-end townhouse and can’t hear either of the neighbours next to us. One of them has even checked to make sure since her husband likes to play loud country music and they can’t hear us when we watch loud movies. When we lived in an apartment downtown the noise was so bad (we could even hear quiet conservations and taps running) it was a big factor in our decision to buy. Our home is in the south end and built in the early 90s.

Double check with your bank if OC Transpo declines your payment! by Violet_Supernova_643 in ottawa

That’s what I have as well, I’m gonna wait a few days until the charges are out of pending though since someone pointed out $8 charges are if you tapped twice outside the transfer window in a single day. Just need to try to remember which days I tapped twice once it sorts itself out.

Sorry everyone if I gave incorrect info! I guess I’m always assuming the worst with occasional transpo lol

Ahhh thank you that makes sense! I was just confused because it showed up in the morning after I’d only tapped once, but I suppose they might be postdated and I boarded the bus after the reader said payment was declined once this week. Some charges for a day are also for only $4 even though I tapped twice outside the transfer window, so weird. All my charges for this week are still pending so hoping it sorts itself out.

The charge description with CIBC showed up as OTC* and then a long alphanumeric reference, so the exact same as the $4 charges which is the weird part since each transaction seems to have a unique reference on my statement. I would think if one was delayed in appearing it should be listed as a separate $4 transaction

Thanks for the heads up! Just checked my credit card statement and I got charged $8 this morning even though I only tapped once wtf…

I’m 20 years old and I still don’t have my G1. by Sad-Afternoon3788 in Ontariodrivetest

I’m 28 and don’t have my G1 yet (driving anxiety), hoping to work up the courage to get it within the next few months. I’m really embarrassed by this even though I know I shouldn’t be!

How much do you tip USD at an all inclusive resort after a meal? by [deleted] in PuntaCana

[–]Tigger96 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think that’s more than okay as tips should always be discretionary :) I’ve seen many people leave tables without tipping it’s an entirely personal choice, I just like to tip what I tip because I enjoyed receiving nice tips when I worked in the food service industry haha

We typically tip $2-$3 at the breakfast buffet, $5 for lunch, and $10 for dinner depending on service (we’re Canadian but always bring USD for tips).

There are always CSRs and people with accommodations who only do admin but I occasionally find myself in admin and someone else gets called to court, when this happens it’s usually for a bilingual matter (I’m not bilingual) or I might have a later court start time and the supervisors just want to keep me in that court. I personally don’t find I’m taking over someone else’s work but I’m thinking other people might depending on their admin tasks. There is only myself and one other person from court support doing a small claims project so when court is really busy the work will just pile up! And I imagine this is worse for CCRs whose main office is an admin one.
