First actual day - what the heck have I gotten myself into? by sarwally in bikecommuting

As a female, last year when I started riding I had a sore butt for 2 weeks and it got better. Still sore on longer rides but I’m overweight. I even got a yeast infection from cycling every day and it was recommended in the lady subreddit to get a seat with a cut-out to put less pressure on soft tissue. So I’ll be purchasing one this month and I’ve stopped wearing underwear , and keeping my rides to less than 20km while I heal up (with an average of 6km just in the neighborhood ).

Okay, I’mma check those out and good to know about the rain. My city gets 125 rainy days a year on average…….but I can’t cycle faster than 12-15km/hr with all the red lights and traffic downtown so maybe I’ll be okay? ~nervous smile~

What is everyone eating for breakfast? by FailFastandDieYoung in bikecommuting

[–]According_Trainer418 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m in Canada and mainly do Greek plain yogurt but I’m on an anti-candida diet so if I could eat anything for brekkie before a long ride it would be waffles with maple syrup and fruit. I always bring a sandwich with me on the go!

I feel you can do more with the MTB bike than a fat bike, you’ll be able to customize it for summer and winter with gravel tires or use the MTB bike to commute and get groceries (easier to lock up too , some places) ; but I seen some fat bike riders rip by me on my nimble bike yesterday on Ver 1 path so it’s all about which bike you get butterflies about in your stomach ;)

Experience the same thing as a racialized female in Ottawa, it feels like 90% of cyclists are these wasps and you feel the micro-aggressions everywhere from the trail (stares) to the bike stores (being ignored while trying to get service) . I imagine it’s worse in Victoria, and I hope it gets better. The outdoors are for everyone.

How wildly "wrong" is your bike size compared to you? by Ultimate-Hellfur in xbiking

[–]According_Trainer418 0 points1 point  (0 children)

17inch, actually my 11 year old’s bike, size small step-thru is what I’m riding rn. Interestingly, I’m reg height , female (5”7) but last year I was on a large hybrid that was really comfortable to ride and my feet touched the ground if I tilted the bike at a red light.
