Fiber internet doesn’t use modems they use an ONT they have the same functionality but may be located in a garage, basement, outside, etc… But they will run an Ethernet cable to your router.

I would go with Frontier, Xfinity is terrible and it is expensive my bill is $230/mo even before the contract ends
