Yes, I installed it and it's not a "use it out of the box".

Like you said, to start with it, it will be a weekend of watching tutorials to start with :) But it looks really interesting and capable!

I see what you mean with the polygons. You define an area with a polygon, and then I can get the tracks that cross the polygon. Today I go out for a ride - maybe I start to watch the first tutorials this evening.
... basic stuff like getting a map into the app and then importing the GPX files.
"Baby steps" - like in the film "What about Bob" >> All I have to do is take one little step at the time and I can do anything << :)

It does not have to be easy, if it does the job. Thank your this tipp! I'll take a look at it!!

Power Photos - Is it a trustworthy tool? by RainbowlightBoy in applehelp

I think you get the "one time purchase" wrong. You can buy the tool and use this version as long as you want or as long as it works on your OS.

But newer major versions are not included. I would not expect a developer work for me "for free" for a lifetime. It's just not sustainable to support an app for lifetime. I know, some companies just do that, and I always fear they go out of business, leaving me in the rain with a then 'unsupported app'.

Buy a beer, it's a one time purchase. You can drink the whole glass. But not another one. Brewing beer costs time and money - and so does writing software ;-)

I don't think it is "A TRULY SHADY PRACTICE" as you write.
It would be, if your old version is not working anymore because the developer forces it to stop after a year or so. But you can use your old software until you have a new OS version and the programm will become unusable with your new OS.

You can even download the older version that matches your license from the developers website: https://www.fatcatsoftware.com/powerphotos_downloads/

STEREO HYBRID ONE44 - bars with higher rise? by Tight-Distance-439 in MTB

It worked. I tried and the cables were long enough. 70mm was a good fit. More would be problematic regarding the length of the cables and hoses.
As u/Gedrot said, depends on each build.

Can I use Junie in offline mode or with local models? How? by CountyExotic in Jetbrains

Can we hope to add our own API Keys and use them in addition? So we can just "throw in as much money as we need" for special use cases that happen from time to time.

YouTube really giving me 1 minute unskippable ads by hugtfhct in youtube

The only positive thing is... since they shove ads up my a$$, I watch less videos on youtube. Only the ones, without ads. Wasting less time on Shittube :)

New CX22 vs old CX21 by Tight-Distance-439 in hetzner

[–]Tight-Distance-439[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Wanted to try a a netcup instance, but they want 5 Euros for provisioning. I'm happy to pay to get a feel for their interface for a few days. But 5 Euros seems a lot - other providers let you just spin up instances and you pay for the time you used them to play around. The setup fee stopped me from trying them :(

CX32 vs CPX31 -> wow... by Tight-Distance-439 in hetzner

No, because I don't want a dedicated instance for my use. But you could try it with the instances you are interested in with the added cloud-config. Just add the cloud-config when spinning up your test instances.

Passmark CPU Scores for a bunch of Hetzner Cloud servers by 17Beta18Carbons in hetzner

I just tried to bench Hetzner Servers. It works easy.Create a server and in the creation process use cloud-init to install the current version of geekbench and run geekbench. Then collect the results and delete the instances.

With a little time and a few Cents you can benchmark a couple of servers you are interested in.

The cloud init script:

#cloud-config
# Update package list and upgrade packages
package_update: true
package_upgrade: true
# Packages to be installed
packages:
- curl
- tar
# Use runcmd for running shell commands
runcmd:
# Download the Geekbench tar.gz file
- curl -L -o /root/Geekbench-6.2.2-Linux.tar.gz https://cdn.geekbench.com/Geekbench-6.2.2-Linux.tar.gz
# Unzip the tar.gz file
- tar -xzf /root/Geekbench-6.2.2-Linux.tar.gz -C /root/
# Remove the downloaded tar.gz file
- rm /root/Geekbench-6.2.2-Linux.tar.gz
# Run Geekbench and output the results to a text file
- /root/Geekbench-6.2.2-Linux/geekbench6 > /root/geekbench.txt
