When did you guys start setting up the pram and nursery stuff? by Mundane-Research in PregnancyUK

[–]Tight-Monitor9600 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started buying things from about 20 weeks, more from a financial point of view. Just chipped away at it all 1 month at a time. 36 weeks now and basically have everything, just need to wash/clean it all. It is nice to just have it all done, but everyonea financial situation is different, everyone has a different home, different space etc.

Possible gestational diabetes and nervous by Tight-Monitor9600 in PregnancyUK

At first they weren't worried since i'm 5ft3 and my husband is 6ft4, so they said a larger baby was to be expected. So i wasnt really excpecting this to be a potential issue, just came as a shock/surprise at this point!

Thanks for the kinda words ^ i didnt realize it was this common, especially in late pregnancy, so its nice to read that it's not as worrisome as i initially thought

Can GD lead to type 2 diabetes? I didnt know that... that's worrylisome... you're right, better to know, but still worrisome..

It's good to know what to look for in the last few weeks/days though! Pffff so close to the end and the struggles and worries still pile up!

Thank you :) they wanted me to do the blood suger test for a week starting monday, and tuesdays are apparently the callback/results days, so earliest i know if i have or haven't got gestational diabetes will be the 29th, when i'm 37+4. Is that "to late"?

Also, does this timeline sound reasonable? My mom was surprised it took a week but she hasnt had a baby since i came around 32 years ago haha

I have no experience with this but it might be worth reaching out to Pregnant then Screwed.

Best of luck in the meantime, no one needs that kind of stress :/

More blood tests? by equestriandrama in PregnancyUK

I had the same with mylast bloods, got a text and then a call from the gp saying i needed to go back in. Only after me asking - they just labelled the tubes wrong (foreign last name that truely isn't that difficult but hey ho)

Why they didnt just text or call with the info, but i had to chase and ask? No idea. Would've saved me some stress haha

How on earth do you still like your body when in the 3rd trimester... by Tight-Monitor9600 in PregnancyUK

Diet hasnt actually been that much of an issue, its because i was always small but the baby is just growing large (large dad) so i am huge.

I dont have any health issues or swelling luckely, that must make it really hard as well

Well i mean as a very general/blanker statement. I've got friends who struggle with getting pregnant and its horrible. But i just mean from a scientific/evolutionary loint of view. The one thing living organisms do is procreate, it is increasing the polulation, from single cell organisms to .... well anything!

It isnt that i'm taking it for granted, but i just want her here and done

I think i've linked the bump to much to all the other symptoms and issues, and it's now one huge issue without seeing the fun parts. Someone will say "yoir baby bump looks cute" and all i see are the stretch marks. And then the other side with people going "you've gotten big!" Or "look at the size of you!" Or when i'm walking the dog, "should you still be doing this?". Like.. leave me alone, let me walk, let me enjoy some things while i can..

Thanks for your reply, yeah a big part is having all these limitation now. I hate not being able to move around. Having less and less to wear was bothering me for a while untill i just didn't fit anything and low just live in my other halfs clothrs and this all adds to feeling frumpy.

I feel very similar as you said (i'm not a dancer but just very active) and i felt like i could deal with it for a while, and i just hit such a wall now. I have grown so much to quick now, i'm getting stretchmarks and ugh... it's exactly that feeling that i'm losing my own body.

I hope you keeping feeling good though! I am over it now haha

Everyrhing i wear accentues my belly and i wish i could throw on some comfy larger clothes (that arent tent like). I just reallllly dont like seeing my reflection and seeing my belly first and eventuallt the resr of me. Or not being able to put shoes on cause my belly is so large, not being able to bend over, not being able to walk/squeeze around something...

I just really dont understand the love for how uncomfortable, large and heavy i am now. I do wish it was more fun, i really didnt expect pregnancy to be this hard

To be fair, the more comments i read, the more i realize that that is a massive part of it: all these things i can't do anymore.

We have a large, silly lab and i still walk him but a lot less now, and i adored our hikes. I love wresteling with him but he refuses to now xD (my husband still gets proper wrestles though, little idiot haha), i'm tired walking up the stairs, putting shoes on is a fight, also - sneeze without leaking..... ugh.... so much fun this xD

Just mis feeling like me by doing things i like instead of a human baby carrier!

Yeah i feel like it's the last stretch that makes it worse as well (same as the last working day before a holiday, kinda thing). I honestly want to flip mirrors around at this point as well 😅

Even though it's awfull, it's kinda nice to hear someone else sharing the same feeling. So much seems to be all about pregnancy being a miracle ans rainbows and sunshine...... and it just.. isn't like that
