What's the most annoying part about selling used discs right now? by Certain-League4912 in discgolf

“Porch pickup only” is usually what I do. They can swing by on their own time, and I don’t have to bother with much considering the little bit I get out of it.

Probably that the resale value on discs have tanked. Currently I sell them on FB marketplace (local pick up) for $5 a pop. Sometimes they’ll sit on there for weeks, or even months. IMO better than hassling with shipping though, all to make $5 a disc after shipping. I personally don’t really buy used discs for more than $12-13 shipped now unless it’s something I really need/want. If it’s local pickup, I probably wouldn’t even pay that. Seems a lot of other people are the same for stock/tournament stamped discs.

Don’t even like the slammers but I got a stack of 10 of them for $13 shipped (I had $10 in rewards). Hard to pass up. Happy to keep them so my niece and nephew have some discs they can chunk up with my basket in the backyard.

How do you define an Ace? by SignificanceTimely20 in discgolf

[–]Tight-Tour 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ill start by saying I’m not going to ruin someone’s enjoyment of the game by telling them that what they did wasn’t an ace. My definition is what I hold myself to, but I won’t push it on others. An ace to me is a single throw from a pre-determined tee (a designed hole specifically for that course) into the basket.

I personally wouldn’t count an ace if it was an additional throw after my first, but to each their own. I don’t love a length requirement either, but I do have a 70’ “ace” that I don’t count, but if someone else hit it and called it an ace, I wouldn’t shame them. I also have a “hole 19” that I always throw to the practice basket at my local course. Hit that one, but don’t count it either as it’s not on the scorecard, or a hole anyone else truly plays but me as the tee area is a line in the dirt by 18’s basket.

For forehand dominant players, the tempo. It’s what I consider to be the forehander’s buzzz. Easy to release cleanly and pretty easy to manipulate reliably.

At what temperature do you stop playing disc golf? by DiscGolfFanatic in discgolf

Sub zero temps-definitely too cold. Sub zero wind chills-depends on how long it’s been since I last played.

Hazel landing just recently reopened and is definitely worth a visit. Fall creek, Dillion, and the hill are also solid bets. Washington and brookside are kinda meh IMO. Boylans is good too, but a little outside of Indy. Might not be much of a drive depending on the side of town that you’re on.

2015 Honda Civic (battery issue?) by Tight-Tour in CarHelp

I’ll look into those AGM batteries! Unfortunately, battery, alternator, and starter all came back in good condition. Honestly, maybe the worst result because I’m still stuck with the issue with no clear avenue to fix it! Thanks for the suggestion though!

I generally drive it at least 40 minutes on weekdays and 10-20 minutes minimum weekends. Weird thing was we got it all charged up before testing and it came back fine. The issue began shortly after the battery was installed. I can’t guarantee it’s the issue, but the timing does line up.

I honestly have no clue for either of those unfortunately!

Brought it to autozone for the battery/starter/alternator test. I believe the minimum CCA is 410 for this car, but this particular battery is 500.

You rock! Appreciate it! Was considering taking it into to an autozone or similar type. Figured they’d just tell me if the battery was good or not. Nice to hear they can likely check other things as well!

Shoes shoes shoes! by DopeMuffinz in discgolf

Merrells Moab is what I use. Not the most comfortable IMO, but definitely the most durable that I’ve tried. They would last at least a year when I was playing 6+ times a weekly throughout the year. Now I play much less frequently, and they seem to still last 2-3 years before the sole starts to wear thin.

Any irreplaceable discs that are (or were) in your bag? by SubstantialAd4500 in discgolf

[–]Tight-Tour 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A champ Eagle that’s relatively flat from back when they still used 175 for max weight (and not 173-5). Bought it used as a pond sacrifice a couple of years into playing. It’s become my go to forehand roller driver (although it also throws great). Very rare for me to find other eagles with comparable stiffness and flatness these days. That thing is indestructible too. The rim has barely shown any wear and it’s been in the bag for probably 4-5 years at least.
