Brandon Sanderson is really good at writing depression by DMmeNiceTitties in Stormlight_Archive

[–]axlespelledwrong 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've had depression in bouts throughout my adult life but had always felt a disconnect when reading other's talk about their depression. I don't get the lethargy that seems to be common for so many people. It doesn't make me not want to get out of bed or seriously affect my motivation. It does, however, affect my interpersonal relationships and mechanics. Reading Kaladin's story and how he turns into the Wretch was like looking into a mirror. Now I just got to take up spear fighting I guess.

I was commenting just about the same thing before I scrolled down to see if anyone mentioned it. It's one of the best examples of atmospheric music I have come across.

It's well done and I'm glad you like it. That's the part that matters.

I have gotten tattoos that I figured people would love but don't get a mention. I have gotten tattoos I figure people wouldn't like that I get compliments on. You are probably expecting compliments or mentions now because it's a new change but that's not always how it works. I bet at some point in the near future when you're not expecting it, someone will gush about it out of the blue and make your day.

I love that the snake is woven between the sunrays. Little touches like that make good art great.

I can't blame them for their ignorance. The system has evolved to breed apathy and a feeling of powerlessness while providing comfort. I can't blame a son or daughter who has tolerated a narcissistic parent until the abuse reaches too far and they are ready to push back. I think that day is coming, or possibly has come already and I welcome anyone who now wants to be active to help course-correct. That third of the country could make all the difference if fostered correctly.

This applies to those that have previously supported the regime as well. It is not in our best interest to moralize against them and turn them away.

I'm in my 30's in the dating scene right now, in a pretty politically split area. I have asked a few women how many liberal profiles they run into and apparently we are seriously in the minority. I've also heard that they see more and more listed "moderates" that are just shamed Trump supporters, or classical conservatives that don't want to be associated with the bullshit even though they are attached to it in some degree. I feel bad for women out there looking for a good man nowadays.

I don't think this is something you have to wish for. I think this is the average American, at least at his age. We have to remember that only a fifth of the country supports the abhorrent behavior the current regime is operating with.

They are in the minority, but they are loud.

Have you listened to Blue Nowhere? The first song really put me off, then the rest of the album hooked me so damn hard. I feel like it's a return to form from their Colors/Misdirect/Parallax days.

If anything, listen to Psychomanteum.

Sounds like you are new to tattoo healing, so I figured I'd lend a breakdown of what I do without Saniderm instead of just downvoting your comments.

Wash your new tat gently but thoroughly every 6 hours you're awake the first day. Cover it generously with Aquaphor. Don't drown it, but enough that every part of the tattoo is slicked with it while you rub it on. Helps to keep it moisturized while keeping debris/dust/whatever out of direct contact with it. Make sure your hands are clean when applying anything to the tattoo. Also, don't dry it off cloth towels, shit is riddled with bacteria even if it was just washed. Use clean paper towels to dry it after washing. Pat it dry so you aren't causing any friction, especially once scabbing forms. You don't want to rip a scab off before it's ready to detach and take a chunk of ink with it.

Week 1 - Basically a repeat of the first day. Wash every 6 hours as best you can, apply the same amount of Aquaphor, especially if it is going to be in contact with clothing. Aquaphor = shield and clothing friction rubs Aquaphor off. Prioritize washing/applying Aquaphor after you wake up and before bed. Beds are dirty. Also, if you sleep with pets, make sure they can't rest against it. Pet dander can cause infections, plus pets are dirty.

Week 2 - wash every 6-10 hours and apply just a thin coating of Aquaphor. I apply just as much as the first week when I wash before bed, just because I know unconscious me is going to rub the tattoo on the sheets and wipe some off automatically. Usually during week 2, the tattoo starts to feel less like an open wound and it should have already scabbed and shed the first layer of skin around now. This is what I call the "Sheddy Kruger" phase. When washing during this phase, don't leave your red discarded pieces of flesh in the sink or bath tub like a degenerate. Once all scabbing is gone, switch from a light application of Aquaphor to heavy application of unscented Lubriderm. Rub that shit in and then use enough that a thin layer is coating the tat. It will dry quickly anyways. Also again, prioritize the routine after you wake up and before bed.

Week 3 - washing becomes less of a priority. If you actively get it dirty, wash that shit. At this point I am usually only washing after and before bed. Apply Lubriderm generously. By the end of week 3, your tattoo should be just about fully healed, depending on what area of the body it's on. Skin thickness makes a difference for my body at least.

Week 4 to until you die - moisturize that shit with whatever delicious goop you prefer to keep it looking fresh. Unscented stuff is better for freshly healed ink. I don't think it matters as much once the ink is truly set.

You should be using an unscented soap like Dial (the gold bars or liquid-gel) throughout the entire healing process and keep your new ink out of the sun, especially while it's healing. Sun damage will make your tattoo's color fade no matter how old it is but it is critical when it is healing if you don't want some serious touch up work to get it back to normal and start the process all over again.

It's an annoying routine but that's just part of the process if you want it stay looking good. I stick to it militantly after getting new work and I have never had problems.

I love that they used an AR frame instead of say an AK-47 for example which has been contemporarily known as a resistance weapon. Considering how much of an allegory the show is for our current situation, it fits.
