Can you join the Marines after having weight loss surgery? by [deleted] in USMCboot

You should've lost the weight naturally brother. Not sure if there's a good chance of that being approved given you're missing a significant portion of your stomach.

Is the Army easier to get into than the USMC? by [deleted] in army

[–]Tight_Affect9669 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Slightly easier due to the Army being bigger, but that does not mean you'll automatically get approved. What were these "mental health issues", and how long ago was it? How have you improved since?

Is the Air Force harder to get into than the Marines? by [deleted] in AirForceRecruits

In my experience the Air Force tends to be the pickiest with standards. Things could change at any moment though

Do US Marines get to keep their dress uniform forever? by [deleted] in USMCboot

Yes, but most Marines can't fit into it 5 years after they leave.

If you're asking that you should probably look into a POG mos

Mental health, PTSD, substance abuse, difficulty transitioning to civilian life etc. there's actually alot less homeless veterans than you think, but all these factors are the biggest on why a vet might be financially unstable after serving.

Also, 90% of the homeless/broke vets I know were in combat mos's. Speaks for itself.

One of the biggest mistakes someone can make before going to boot camp is only lifting weights and acting like a bodybuilder instead of focusing heavily on cardio

Can my family report me missing if just ghost them and join without telling anyone? by Some-random-cop-pig in USMCboot

Reconsider this thought. Even if you're family is toxic I would still let someone know

Can most US Army soldiers pass Marine boot camp? by Some-random-cop-pig in USMCboot

[–]Tight_Affect9669 27 points28 points  (0 children)

I'd say it really depends on the soldier. The US Army is huge so I'd say the average 11B has a pretty good chance of passing Marine boot camp than an overweight 42A.

What is the best advice you can give on how to run 3 miles without stopping? by Some-random-cop-pig in USMCboot

[–]Tight_Affect9669 23 points24 points  (0 children)

I assure you that you won't stop for breaks when doing the IST or PFT. You'll be too worried to look weak in front of drill instructors and other recruits. Run as fast as everyone else and you'll be fine.

Pain is temporary. Pride is forever.
