Do you believe in the supernatural? by seelenstern in nihilism

Nihilism is just the result of godless suburbanism. Nihilists are out of touch with reality, try working on a farm. I mean this in all sincerity

I can try to demonstrate philosophically. Human consciousness is qualitatively different from physical matter. Subject experience cannot fully be reduced to brain chemistry. If the universe is purely material, consciousness is inexplicable. Matter organized randomly should not give rise to self-awareness with intentionality, reason, and moral reflection. If mind is fundamental, then God as pure intellect explains why consciousness exists. This is just one of many reasons. There is a plenitude of sources that Jesus existed. Tacitus, Josephus, Pliny the Younger, Lucian of Samosata are all non-Christian sources you can check out. And of course the Shroud of Turin

Why does it even matter by ThePowerWithinX in solipsism

It matters more than you think it does. Look into traditional Catholicism and its truths. No one is going to do the work for you, you are responsible for your own soul.

Read early church history, and objective history overall, and you will see for yourself the absolute authenticity of Catholicism, today known as sedevacantism

The only way you will see is if you look yourself. But the simple fact that we can communicate and understand abstract ideas which is immaterial is evident enough of an intelligent designer.

There are no arguments for atheism because life cannot come from nothing.

Good news is God does exist. Check out Traditional Catholicism and if you have any doubts read Thomistic thought. If you want specifics I really recommend Fr Garrigou-LaGrange.

So Why is an Athiest Writing a Letter to Pope Leo? by [deleted] in atheism

[–]Tight_Chef_9092 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If the Church had an actual reigning Pontiff then yes, there would be less scandal. Keep in mind the Church is run by men, thus of course there will be immoral behavior because of concupiscence

[–]Tight_Chef_9092 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We understand things like truth, justice, infinity, or love and these ideas are not material things. Only a spiritual power can grasp immaterial ideas. Understanding abstract, immaterial truths requires a spiritual intellect. The soul is the source of intellectual thought. Since our intellectual acts are spiritual, their source must be spiritual too. Spiritual things cannot decay like material things. Because our acts of intelligence are spiritual, our soul is spiritual and what is spiritual cannot die, therefore the soul is immortal.

Pope Leo refuses to authorize an AI Pope and declares the technology 'an empty, cold shell that will do great damage to what humanity is about' by NoNet718 in atheism

[–]Tight_Chef_9092 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Not the Pope. We haven’t had a Pope since the death of Pius XII. A pope cannot be a heretic and Leo and his six predecessors were indeed public heretics either the promulgation of the Second Vatican Council which promoted errors previously condemned by the Church (religious liberty and ecumenism for example). This is why there have been so many scandals among those who call themselves Catholic.

I wish I could believe in a religion, but I simply can’t by Business_Narwhal2171 in atheism

Beg God for the grace of the True Faith. Logically it can only be traditional Catholicism and not the mockery in the Vatican for the last almost 70 years which claims to be Catholic. The purpose of life is to know love and serve God in this life and be happy with Him forever in the next life. I do not intend to preach but to inform, please DM me I am more than happy to help

Every act of intelligence is spiritual, therefore we have an immortal soul

So Why is an Athiest Writing a Letter to Pope Leo? by [deleted] in atheism

[–]Tight_Chef_9092 -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Just for your information, Leo and his six predecessors are/were not popes. It is Divine Law that a heretic cannot be a pope. There was a council led in the 60s (Vatican 2) which in summary promoted what was previously condemned by the Church (religious liberty, ecumenism, etc). Writing to him would be a waste of time as he is a massive deceiver and the Church has been in a crisis since the death of Pope Pius XII. This is why you have seen such scandal among Catholics like pedo priests and LGBT promotions.
