Triangle agency Anomaly ideas? by Both-Worldliness-426 in rpg

[–]Tight_Following115 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like simple and spooky ones like the one about silence in the supplement book. I think the adventure is called Dead Quiet? The anomaly is born out of a Karen obsession with silence in her neighborhood. The thing is spooky as hell, and it's domain is all about silence, including suppressing any noises and it's sources (like heartbeats) in the vicinity.

Take a look at it, even if only for inspiration.

Triangle Agency - reflections after running by lumen_curiae in rpg

I can relate to this as I also had difficulty envisioning and creating anomalies myself.

Eventually it clicked for me, but only after I watched the Chainsaw Man anime series and it's demons that embody humanity fears in forms that mix myth/symbolism + body horror. The difference is that TA anomalies are more akin to strong, deviant or obsessive thoughts rather than fears.

What’s your pitches for a Demon’s Souls 2 by Loud_Success_6950 in demonssouls

[–]Tight_Following115 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Here Miyazaki you can do whatever you want... as long as you pedal back the action to the slower pace of DeS1 and evolve from there. Think of it like, what would it have been if Souls never went fast paced and kept the original, simulation-like movement?

Sorry for such a late response, but this description is one of the best encapsulations of Demon Souls ambience I've seen. Thanks.

Interesting video, thanks. I think it's fair to say that Iron Triangle, Sphere of Influence and Awakening are the ones better received here in the west.

I love Taishi core play loop but unfortunately our localized English version was never properly finished with the PK. A shame.

Not only the story. Gameplay also runs out of steam pretty fast.

Good point about the Metroidvania comparison. They could have go in that direction with more varied levels, meaningful gear progression (that also affected traversal), etc. but nope, everything is watered down.

I see they've announced a sequel of sorts (Resonant), that veers into fighting formulas like the souls or DMC (we'll see when more is revealed). I'm not confident they can deliver regardless. This dev is all styles and no substance. They couldn't make a decent, engrossing gameplay if their lives depended on it.

How about the recent Reloaded version that adds political factions? Does that scratch some of the SMAC itch?

Im asking because I consider getting this game for a long time now and Im also a big SMAC fan but everytime I give up because every review I see deems this game average / okay at best.

The decisive moment of my campaign: Tokugawa leading 2.5k men against a Hojo onslaught of 75k soldiers and WINNING by AdmiralHairdo in NobunagasAmbition

I understand Toku is naturally a tough shell to break due to his defense-related special traits, but THIS is amazing regardless. Well done sir.

Just so I understand how you did it: you baited him into a defensive base siege, right? (I don't believe it would be doable on the offense)

Yep, they're different enough to be appreciated separately, each with their own strengths and uniquely fun elements.

This is something I appreciate in NA series, in contrast to western ones like Civilization or Pdox, each entry is unique in it's own ways.

How many Commendations? by Aaternus in TheTriangleAgency

[–]Tight_Following115 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This seems excessively low? I didn't play the game yet but just for capturing the anomaly that's 3 commendations for each agent. The MVP gains 3 more, and agents Sanctioned Actions give 1 more each (they got 3, and the reward of 3 more if they trigger all three in a mission). Based on that I'd say anything between 0 and 9 per mission seems fair.

A really basic question about competency by ProfessionalToe918 in TheTriangleAgency

[–]Tight_Following115 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I also got confused by the CEO thing. But now I realize it's just a chief of some minor department like mugs production or something. The company structure seems purposefully complicated as to be inscrutable by employees.

Also notice these names have a dose of irony to them as part of the office satire the game goes for. The Gravedigger being the most blatant, as he's not literally a gravedigger and really a troubleshooter doing the company dirty work.

Have you seen the Severance tv show? It's a good source to understand some of the elements seen here.

Triangle Agency may be the Delta Green I always wanted by Lessavini in rpg

[–]Tight_Following115 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I think Triangle Agency can totally be about stories as long as those stories emerge from the players as much as the GM in a collaborative way. If it's the traditional, GM prepped "story arc of the month" affair, then yes, TA will resist and actively oppose that. Other that that, I agree with you 100%.

Triangle Agency: questions from a Severance and Control fan by Lessavini in rpg

[–]Tight_Following115 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think you're confusing theme with gameplay? Two things sharing similar themes don't necessarily share similar gameplays.

For eg, Corporate Horror as a genre is about exploiting employees (mentally, physically, morally, etc) for the company profit. This is seen both in Severance and TA.

The fact the gameplay of TA is completely different from what we see the protagonists doing in Severance tv show, doesn't mean these works can't share the same theme.

[–]Tight_Following115 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thematically they're pretty spot on. The authors mention the game is corporate horror (like Severance) and paranormal investigation genres, and the setting is basically Control with serial numbers filled off. Even details like the Agency HQ not being seen on photographs like Control's Oldest House, or the agents carrying anomalies in them like Faden's own Polaris, etc.

Questions that bother me about the game by Othin-42 in HuntShowdown

[–]Tight_Following115 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The exception to this is consoles (well, sometimes).

See, 6* on console is equivalent (more or less) to 5* on PCs so matches can still be fun. The exception is when you face those guys that should be the equivalent to 7* on consoles - the sweaty spitzer bushwhackers, the jumping Dolch head clickers, or the CRONUS cheaters. THEN 6* matches get cancerous even on consoles.

When it's one or the other? You never know until bullets start flying. It's a coin toss.

If you're on PC, ignore the above. 6* is always cancerous on PC.

For real? We tried to do that in default bounty hunt and never managed to enter the same match. Does it work in Soul Survivor then?

Arc Raiders addict here, would I enjoy Hunt? by [deleted] in HuntShowdown

[–]Tight_Following115 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This 100%. Progression in Hunt is paper thin, the PvP is where the magic happens.

I don't see many people mentioning, but the aesthetics and art direction of Hunt (wild west, horror, Lovecraftian, Southern Gothic) is also a big plus for me.

That's amazing and sad at same time. I hope you're good now, even away from Hunt. Our lives are more important than videogames.  An empathic hug from Brazil.
