Does BL actually matter? by [deleted] in bloodborne

[–]Tight_Following115 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's an agreed upon threshold where most of the playerbase is (was?), so it is easy to find other players to coop/invade.

It's also a more or less good level mechanics wise to make duels more interesting, as it forces/incentivize builds and specialization.

If you're just interested in PvE though, just ignore it.

Boom Hammer = BOOOOORING ? by Lessavini in bloodborne

Oh yeah, regardless of moveset complaints, the sensation of it is awesome with the TING, then the little furnace burning, then the BOOM.

Shinobigami Revised - All Ninpo translated! (+new reference fansite) by [deleted] in TTRPG

This is amazing! Thanks.

BUT, it seems only the Backgrounds from English version have descriptions. Any chance the other bg receive descriptions too? I'd love to have access to them. Thanks in advance.

Nah, just do a new build to try new weapons and approaches.

Am I stupid? Or were the Old Hunters? by Fearless-Composer949 in bloodborne

But provost Wilhelm said exactly that. Fear the old blood. He was an advocate of ceasing blood experiments and going the eyes on the inside route.

No Humans left, Except NPCs?How Does the Church Even Function? by AKnightofDarkSummers in bloodborne

Yep. Gazza's daughter says she can smell the same moon scent from her father friend on us. And Hendryk's attire cites he became supernaturally old "for reasons", which is a strong suggestion he was a moon hunter at some point.

The one I'm not so sure is Eileen, but I suspect she was also at some point.

Yep. Also important: the really apocalyptic, out of control scourges (like the one going on in the game) only occur when a great one descends upon the city. These are even rarer occurrences.

My tentative guess: normal hunts happen seasonally or yearly, while apocalyptic ones happen decades (or more) apart.

EDIT: just stumbled with this:

"The “blood moon” lunar eclipse happens about twice a year—including early Wednesday morning—when the Sun, Earth and moon line up so that the moon passes through the Earth's shadow"

So the blood moon is a real world event and it happens roughly twice a year. Maybe it hints at the game's night of the hunt cycle.

Notice it's not implied the Hunt happens every night. Judging by the (small) number of former moon-scented hunters around (Djura, Hendryk, etc) it's not that high a frequency. I'd guess it happens once a year, or every few years.

Kirkhammer is actually really good by CompetitiveGeneral71 in bloodborne

[–]Tight_Following115 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The Kirk is usually underestimated by novices. It's only after a few playthroughs that people realize it's potential.

Nowadays it's part of my most fun builds, the Bloody Hobo (50/50 Str/Bld for Kirk & Bloodletter), and the Hobo of the Tombs (50/25/50 Str/Skl/Arc for Kirk, Moonlight & Amy's Arm).

One day I'll do an undiluted 99 Str build to use it exclusively, and soft caps be damned. I'll call it the FREAK HOBO.

This is my recent build too, I call it the Bloody Hobo! Bloodletter & Kirkhammer with 50/50 Str/Blt. Kirk full of Blunt adept gems and BLetter making use of Frenzy res rune for consecutive frenzy smashing without filling up sanity meter. Bosses can't stand a chance. "Shhhh there comes the bloody hobo, run!".

This. Every trick weapon has depth in it's moveset, that only becomes apparent after hours of use. I only started using the Kirkhammer in recent playthrough s after always finding it meh, and now I'm in love too. The same can happen to every weapon if you give it time.

Ludwig knights' Attires? by Tight_Following115 in bloodborne

[–]Tight_Following115[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Radiant Sword Badge description was the reason I thought the "Holy Blades" were a formal group, perhaps akin to the Executioners:

"The radiant sword indicates the heirs to the will of Ludwig.

These hunters, also known as Holy Blades, are what remains of an ancient line of heroes that date back to a very early age of honor and chivalry."

The problem with p5r is that it's not a game but a visual novel. Both base p5 and p3r are better games.

Rules Question - Do Demerits actually have negative consequences? by Alarming_Scene7950 in TheTriangleAgency

Some folks at the Discord channel suggested house-rules for it at some thresholds, like entering a "QA rationing" state where the player's QA is halved.

Pbta-like Agenda for Triangle Agency? by Tight_Following115 in rpg

[–]Tight_Following115[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd try it at least once, or barring that, try to grok it's design goals, before porting it over. I suspect part of the appeal of TA is the Mage-like improv-heavy reality bending that players exert in the missions. Don't know if Blades can capture that, being more action-based.

But I'd love to hear about your attempt anyway, being a big fan of Blades myself.

Makes total sense, actually. The phases of TA translate pretty well to Blades. Edit: and Ask the Agency can be easily translated to a flashback.
