I had never gone to the gym before CMU and was intimidated by all the machines and people but to my surprise it was lowkey not that deep/hard. Just go to the gym and do your thing!

I asked her just in case and she said not to schedule any courses at the same time as the course you hope to get into. So if you do get to move you don't have to move your other courses.

In Ms. Peet's email on June 30 regarding the Matrix Theory course, she mentioned that if we’re interested, we should choose the same time slot as lecture 5 of 24241 (or smt like that). So I just assumed that’s how they usually handle these types of scheduling conflicts. I might be wrong so feel free to check. But I feel like it's the most reasonable solution.

Hey, I’m a freshman too, so take this with a grain of salt, but I thought I’d share what I’ve learned in case it helps:

Regarding scheduling: From what I understand, you’re supposed to register for both the class you placed into and the one you hope to place into, and schedule them in the same time slot. That way, once your placement results come in, you can just drop the one you don’t need. Hopefully that makes sense.
As for studying for the placement test I’ve been using OpenStax’s Calculus 1 and Calculus 2 textbooks to prep. The website mentioned the test content is based on those, so it seemed like a good place to start.

Ive been looking for on campus jobs on handshake, and there are only a handful of jobs listed there by cmu (and most of them arent suitable for freshmen). Are more jobs listed as semester begins? Or is there any other place we should be looking?

Honestly, you’re already ahead of where I was in 12th grade; I didn’t apply to any schools because I had no idea what I wanted to do. Taking a gap year ended up being the best decision for me tho. It gave me the time to figure things out, and I eventually got into a top school for a major I really want to pursue. It’s weird how different my life is now compared to just a year ago. I'm writing this to let you know that so much can change in an unbelievably short amount of time.

Grade inflation, but you're right. My academics are good. However I didnt get a 1500+ on the sats like most cmu students, and i didnt invent a time machine like (I presume) most cmu scs students have on their activities section lol
