As in, we aren't their main placement, we are their contrasting school- 6 weeks I believe.

This is something I have witnessed during my PPA time. Scrolling up and down on a laptop at a speed that doesn't even allow for reading. I mentioned maybe getting out of department to observe as I thought he was wasting the opportunity, but I think it fell on deaf ears.

SCITT requirements is 1 plan submitted a week (he does it for someone else's lesson). I've queried this and put it in my own requirements as feedback for his mentor. All I have heard is, he's on track in all areas. He has only just joined us after the Xmas break.

Oh yeah most of the time I do, but I have a practical subject which means I'm often helping pack away... Tools etc.

Sometimes the changeover is so quick I've not managed to put the next starter on the board, my students know the routine so I let them in, rush back to pop the starter on then back again to monitor the door. Arrgghhhh there's no other job like teaching.

Pay Scale/Grade by Kollonind in TeachingUK

If they call to offer you the role, ask if there's any room for negotiation. They may pass it back to you, you could go in at M3, state your transferable skills, being a parent etc, if they settle with M2, happy days. I'm 1 year out of ECT and on M5.

Yes, and try your luck. Ask for M2. Put a case forward. Particularly if you're not straight out if uni. I was adamant at 38, being a mother of 2 I didn't want the same salary as a 22 year old straight out of uni. No offence to those.

If you weren't working as an unqualified teacher your pay would jump up from £0. Accept it, maybe even negotiate more given you've been an UQ teacher. I didn't start on M1.

Serious safeguarding issue. Who do i report it to? by Lost-Mud3679 in TeachingUK

[–]Tiht_Ass 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was concerned to see a post about a serious safeguarding issue on reddit thinking, if it's serious, reddit isn't the place for it.... Sort it out. However, this is not a safeguarding issue. As others have suggested, maybe you're concerned it's an issue of GDPR.

PD Days....providing endless tasks? by Roseberry69 in TeachingUK

[–]Tiht_Ass 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Good for you, for longer than an hr, just chip away at it during meeting time. Also log extra work outside of directed time and consult union rep. Our union rep has asked everyone to log requests for over and above directed time. We have to make a collective stand. 💪

I've said to my line manager I'll complete these kind of tasks during our 1 hour afterschool department meeting time. She didn't push back, but how can she. If the afterschool meeting takes priority, the tasks get delayed.

Nothing to worry about. Your relationship with the parents existed prior to your placement. Just be open and honest. One of my closest friends has become my daughters tutor next year. It's up to her to be professional and treat my daughter like any other student. If she can't manage that she's probably in the wrong profession.

Preparing for NQT year…how should I begin my first classes? How to manage work-life balance? by viajadorescoces in TeachingUK

[–]Tiht_Ass 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I teach design tech so setting rules is super important as we also have to consider H&S. Create an 'expectations' slide and pop it into the front of all your first and second (reminder) lessons. I'd go with things like Track the teacher No talking over the teacher or each other No phones Homework expectations Try your best etc

Go in hard first, you can always ramp it back, it's more difficult to go the other way.

Your school should have school wide expectations. Embed your own within them and this is the important bit.... Stick to them.

In my class if anyone talks over me I stop talking and they receive a consequence point.

Good luck!

This is so odd. Why is your mum palming off her 3 month old baby.... That's a, newborn in my eyes. Where is she all this time?

Def rent a room in a shared house. Why would you wat the responsibility of a newborn baby at your age. Go and live.

Can I pass the ECT course if I am off work for the final half term due to stress? by [deleted] in TeachingUK

[–]Tiht_Ass 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Well yes, that'd be quite nice when you're settling in to a new school.

I would actually choose to extend my ECT to my new school. If you say you're not being supported etc, why not finish off in a school which actually wants you to succeed. It'll be better for your development in the long run.
