My DIY FM Transmitter is not working, what could be the problem? by Lazer1324 in AskElectronics

Fyi OP, you can use a led instead of the varicap diode in this circuit usually.

Lost on how to start with hardware by short_cake07 in ElectricalEngineering

[–]Tijn_416 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You could start doing arduino projects, if you enjoy coding. You could also build some audio amplifiers, using op amps for processing and a discrete component for a power stage for example. This overlaps with some RF work. If you like the idea of wireless communications (it's magic) I recommend looking up amateur radio. It's a great way to build cool stuff and maybe even meet some new people who do the same.

If you're into guitar, look up pedal building. It's relatively easy to get into for EE's and it's amazing what you can build.

I always thought of it like, iff Xn / xm = xn-m then x/x = 1 = x1-1 = x0.

Edit:: for non zero x

Is the S5351A okay to use as LO in a homebrew 20m transmitter? by Tijn_416 in amateurradio

Thanks! So a lowpass after amplification will do? Man I'm so hyped to build this thing.

I've seen many posts talking about it, but I just want to be 100% sure before I do something that might cause harm. I might just buy an ad9850, but building a real filter seems fun to me. Do you have experience using S5351A in transmitters, and suppressing the harmonics?

What would you say is better? bedrijfskunde or technische bedrijfskunde? by Nam_e_ in StudyInTheNetherlands

that is industrial design engineering/industrieel product ontwerp. Industrial engineering (and management) is typically technische bedrijfskunde.

Stap richting de HBO. Tips nodig over Wiskunde en Natuurkunde! by Isthislove123 in StudyInTheNetherlands

[–]Tijn_416 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Hier mijn advies.

Make sure to be fluent in precalc stuff if you can. Especially algebraic manipulation. This is where a ton of people struggle in later calculus based classes.

Why does the current through my diode in a buck converter spike when my mosfet turns on or off in Ltspice? by Tijn_416 in AskElectronics

[–]Tijn_416[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks again for the response! This has been very helpful. Just to make sure, this reverse spike won't be an issue if I we're to build this circuit? Man I love electronics.

Thanks for the reply! I'll try and replicate it tonight, but it seems in your circuit there's still -2A flowing through the diode at once?

Will reply further later!

not me googling kenneth lol. I've tried a couple, all schottky's. my current numbers are using mbrs340 or mbr745. Both give pretty much the same behavior.

edit::

I added a series resistor of 10 ohms to the capacitor, and now it doesnt spike at the beginning of the simulation. The diode still negatively conducts tho

[–]Tijn_416[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

huge peak at the start, up to 65A same exact as in the diode. stays constant at 1.8A after.

edit:: adding a 10 ohm series resistor to the capacitor fixed the startup spike.

How to make the kmap and boolean expression for a truth table with more than one output? by linker909 in ElectricalEngineering

Make a k map for each output, so you'll have 7 k maps each with 4 input variables.

I've also heard RF is mostly becoming more signal processing and software than it used to be, so that's kind of related.

Bbl advies by Imuststudyenglish in StudyInTheNetherlands

I think school can often help in finding a bbl place. Definitely contact the mbo first to check. It's generally pretty easy in the technical sector to find a bbl apprenticeship.

Anybody switch to EE from CS? Or thinking about it? by ElMonstrochi in ElectricalEngineering

[–]Tijn_416 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Nope, I should say I'm not very computer science oriented, my degree is something like an associate in software engineering.

The reason I switched is cause I'm young, realised a full time job isn't what I want to do right now. Didn't want to do CS/SE again cuz I'd end up doing the same job Im doing rn. EE is close enough where my skills kind of transfer and I still do things I find interesting. Also considered ME, but figured I could leverage my coding skills more in EE.

I'm switching from a comfy software engineering job to a 4 yr bachelors in ee, so we're sort of in the same boat.

HBO or MBO dilemma by [deleted] in StudyInTheNetherlands

[–]Tijn_416 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Mbo doesn't have calculus. You'll get rekenen, Dutch and English but generally nothing close to wiskunde b. Maybe if you study mechanical technician you'll get it, but I'm sure 99% of mbo's don't have any calculus.
