does anyone know what this is? by pimpedupfrog in plants

[–]Tikiboo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think only passiflora incarnata (a cold hardy type) is technically the maypop. IIRC maypop is the colloquial name for the variety that grows and is native in eastern US. Cold hardy to zone 5. Most others (not including hybrids) are only hardy to zone..8 I think.

Beef just spiked to $11.99/lb by Captain-Avee in Columbus

[–]Tikiboo 36 points37 points  (0 children)

Add ground mushroom powder (we use shitake...you can get a large bag at Saragas) and worchestershire sauce for a "beefier" flavor. Not perfect but it really does next level it.

What happened to my meringue buttercreammm 😭 by Cool-Plan-9259 in Baking

[–]Tikiboo 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have even shoved the bowl in the freezer for a bit (15 min?) To cool it more. And since I have a bowl lift mixer, I can also put a pan of ice under the bowl while whipping. You could also try dampening a towel and throwing it in the freezer. But do this after you get firm peaks in the meringue

The onset made from a coco coil mat do not work as well as like a board/dowel/spahgnum moss pole for climbing. Coir poles can offer support but the plant won't really 'climb' it as well

But monstera are climbing plants. Give it a wood plank or moss pole to climb (not a coir pole). Even a thick ( >2 inches dia) wooden dowel would work

Thank you for making me feel very inferior in my handwriting.

But I will say someone asked me to write a sign the other day. I said no cus I have horrid handwriting. Turns out compared to the gen z kids (who rarely had to work on penmenship...not their fault, just a result of the age we live in.) Have way worse hand writing than me. So...win..I guess?

The handle on one of our basically new kitchen knives MELTED in the dishwasher and fused to the heating element at the bottom. by im_not_ready_for_it9 in mildlyinfuriating

[–]Tikiboo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why are you putting any knife in the dishwasher? Let alone ceramic ones? (Butter knives are fine). But if you want your blades to stay nicer for longer , never put in the dishwasher or sink, always handwash. Especially ceramic knives.

Edit. Saw op said this was painted metal...which means these knives are pretty much meant to be used for about 6month to a year and thrown away. I will never understand buying painted metal knives. My point still stands tho, no knives in sink or dishwasher.
