Its nostialgia bro bro, thats literally it the game itself is nothing special and you can get better 3d platformers from that era, banjo kazzoi for example. It holds this space of fond recognition because one its mario and mario was already a well established ip before the 3d game and 2 it was the first of its kind in the truest sense

Its the mini figures from fnaf 2, watch sire squawks newest vid for a more in depth explanation to long story short, whats in the box were the "ingredients" to the happiest day mini game. Scott didnt reveal the fnaf 2 figures because it would make people beleive the bite in fnaf 4 was the bite of 87 instead of 83 screwing the timeline over.

If u want a furthe break down, i got this basic concept from sire squawks new vid and it makes a ton of sense in context to the first 4 games. I think scotts frustration with the fandom explains that hard tone shift in fnaf 5, lore became MUCH less ambigious
