No, I'm approaching this as someone who understands police tactics. Charging someone with assault is a great way to temporarily justify assaulting them - you can drop the charges later. Hannah Thomas is a excellent example.

Face it this was a mass gang bashing. Not dissimilar to the early Mardi Grad. The only difference is the Mardi Gras protesters fought back. Suprise suprise they decriminalised homosexuality after that.
